The Philadelphia Eagles have rebounded recently, after losing to Miami a couple of weeks ago, they followed that loss with back to back bad losses to two teams not exactly known as upper echelon teams.
Tampa Bay came into Philly and beat the Eagles 45-17
The following week, on Thanksgiving day, the Eagles got embarrassed against the Lions in Detroit 45-14.
The local media and fans had seen enough!!
For a team that had won 10 games apiece in the first 2 seasons under Chip Kelly, this was a city that had high expectations for the current team. Losing 3 in a row at that point to the likes of Miami (19-20), Tampa Bay (17-45) and on Thanksgiving day in front of a national television audience to Detroit (14-45), the team was sitting at 4 wins and 7 losses. It couldn't have gotten any worse.
With New England on deck, the season seemed lost.
The following week, the Eagles responded by beating the Patriots in New England (35-28) and also win the following week against a Buffalo Bills (23-20) team with talent on both sides of the ball.
So, what do we believe? Is this an Eagles team playing with momentum and confidence that can still win the NFC east?
I don't think so.......
The Eagles caught the Patriots without Gronkowski, and numerous injuries on the offensive side of the ball. Philadelphia's win over New England was very misleading. They got a punt block for a touchdown, had an interception return for a touchdown and also a punt return by Darren Sproles for a touchdown.
21 of the 35 points that they scored that day were on special plays.
Despite being spotted 21 points, the Eagles were lucky to hang on as New England made a late charge, coming up 7 points short.
With confidence from the Patriot win and incentive playing against former teammate LaSean McCoy, the Eagles again hung on for a 3 point win at home against Buffalo.
Local talk stations have proclaimed this the Eagles division to win again. As long as they beat the Giants and the Redskins in the following two weeks after this week, everything will fall into place they say.
Are they looking past this Cardinal team, towards games against division rivals New York & Washington?
The issues the Eagles had prior to beating New England and Buffalo still exist.
The Cardinals are playing with a purpose right now, they are looking to get the highest seed they can heading into the playoffs.
Bruce Arians is an experienced coach who will have his team ready.
Believe me when i tell you that he will tell his team just how dangerous this Eagles team can be as he points to their upset win over the Patriots in New England.
Arizona has covered 7 of it's past 9 road games.
Arizona ranks #1 in yards per game at 417
Arizona ranks #3 in points per game at 31.2
The Eagles will not be able to match points in this game with the Cardinals.
Carson Palmer owns the #2 quarterback rating in the league as well as ranking #2 in passing yards a game
Palmer also sports a 31-9, touchdown to interception ratio.
This Cardinals team is an above average team both offensively and defensively.
Eagles defense giving up an average of almost 30 points per game last 4 contests.
With Green Bay and Seattle on deck, this is a game that head coach Bruce Arians will make sure that his Cardinals do not take lightly.
