While the Ravens have won all four games against the Steelers without
Roethlisberger, the margin of victory has been tight. The four wins
have come by a combined score of 15 points.
The last time the
Ravens faced the Steelers without Roethlisberger was in 2010, when he
was suspended for the first four games of the season. Batch started in
his place and nearly led the Steelers to a 4-0 start in Roethlisberger’s
absence, but a touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to T.J. Houshmandzadeh at Heinz field gave the Ravens a 17-14 victory with 32 seconds left.
In 2009, Dennis Dixon
started in place of Roethlisberger and kept it close at M&T Bank
Stadium before throwing an interception in overtime to set up a Ravens’
game-winning field goal. Dixon is now on the Ravens practice squad.
The
Ravens beat the Steelers 27-21 with Batch as the starting quarterback
in 2007, which turned out to be Brian Billick’s final game as the head
coach. The other win without Roethlisberger came in 2005, when the
Ravens won an overtime game 16-13 with Tommy Maddox at quarterback.

Steelers lose Big Ben, backup QB looks like trash. Ravens put up 55 in a blowout win, Steelers struggle to beat the Chiefs. Who wants any part of the Steelers?
Well, apparently noone so far. Up to today, 9,700 bets have been placed ATS on this game with 92% of them being on the road team.
This is my favorite bet in ALL sports and always warrants a big play. Backing a championship veteran team the first game without their star QB is the best bet you can make in the NFL. Every single player on the Steelers roster will put forth 150% effort in this one to prove they can win without their star QB.
This Steelers team has won multiple superbowls over the years, think they won't be excited to prove to the world on primetime SNF they can beat their most hated rival without their star QB?
Offensive line will block like it's 4th down every down. Defensive line will rush the passer like it's 4th down every down. Steelers will win matchups at every position throughout the game.
Don't get me wrong, Ravens want this win too but they have the pressure in this one whereas the Steelers are out to prove something. Ravens had a 3 game lead in the division and now it's cut down to 1 as the Steelers are now right down their neck. The Ravens can not lose this game now that Big Ben is out. They are now expected to go into Pittsburgh and come out with the win.
Pressure vs Determination. Which would you choose?
My play of the year last year was the Eagles over the Giants the week after Vick got injured. Vince Young came into the game as 6 point underdogs receiving tons of criticism and won the game outright 17-10 against the Giants. Won big in a similar situation with the Steelers against the Falcons first game without Big Ben in 2010 as well. Steelers defense held the Falcons to 9 points as D. Dixon led the Steelers to a 15-9 win.
Ravens will be lucky to sniff 17 points here.
Championship veteran team first game without their star QB? Sign me UP!!!
Steelers +3.5 - 10 units Ravens TT Under 21.5 - 5 units Raiders +11.5 / Eagles +10.5 - 5 units

This did not hold up to today's game with Philly and Vick being out. They got hammered.
Balt is the play tonight.

I absolutely love these type games/ plays. Obviously there is a ton of "cat and mouse" being played by sharps, Vegas and the average Joe and speculating prior to these situations is just as entertaining as the game a lot of times. As far as playing on decent teams their first game following a QB injury or coaching change has also proven to be lucrative although I do not have the stats to support this on hand. In this game however, the value that we might otherwise receive from the lines makers is not present IN MY OPINION. I was expecting a home line in the neighborhood of +6.5 or so. If I had tons of money and a book reliable enough to do this, I would use this game as a perfect spot to attempt a middle. AGAIN, IN MY OPINION, both of these BITTER division rivals motivation is the same as it would of been if both clubs we're 100% healthy. Baltimore should not overlook or underestimate the Steelers, the Steelers BETTER play at their peak if they want to have a chance. Best bet, and the bet I would of taken if I could have, would of been to take the Ravens @ -1 Monday, and then played Pitt +3.5 equally when it crossed the 3 and had an excellent shot at a middle. Worst case scenario, a juicy hedge if I was dead wrong (a distinct possibility whether Ben was hurt or not). Best case scenario, the game is decided by a FG which has happened 6 of the last 10 times these two have faced off (a distinct possibility whether Ben was hurt or not haha). Just my two cents. Since I can't give that a shot, I will be pulling for these two teams to give us a hard fought conclusion to a strange, but entertaining Sunday. BoL friends.

That game should have been 10-3 at best!!! Punt return for a TD!!! Fuck even I know that returner is a monster and he kicked right to him! The fumble that led to 3 and burning timeouts and throwing that corner pass on 3rd and 2 rather go for the first down!!! Brutal!!! I had half my bet on 3'and got 3.5
