@EastsideBangers that is very very helpful information and I greatly appreciate you providing that. Gives me more confidence in the pick because w/ any big play I waiver back and forth a lot and consider buying out. Especially when the line moves in my favor (in this case from pk to -2.5) and I am able to buy out w/o penalty.

@tsizzle79 yes the line seems fishy to me too but I figured it's because they are playing GB at GB. If anything, I was thinking Chip would give Bradford more time since we are getting closer to the regular season. Who do you think will get most of the snaps? I don't really see any reason he would give Tebow extended time since he is the last man in and may even get cut.

I am a huge Jordy Nelson fan but there will not be the drop off due to his absence that many are expecting. Davante Adams moves from 3rd to 2nd on the depth chart and will swallow up most of Nelson targets admirably. Behind him is another guy ready to be a star in the NFL in Ty Montgomery. Cobb will do his usual thing and probably get a few extra targets and their strong running game will run the ball a bit more then it would have. They are also loaded with a few more young, talented receivers that will now get more spot duty if need be. And ofcourse they all have the greatest quarterback in the world throwing them the ball. People using that angle this season will be in for a rude awakening in my opinion.

Of course, Jordy Nelson's injury will keep him out for the entire 2015 season, but also concerning are the injuries across the offensive line. With guards T.J. Lang and Josh Sitton suffering a concussion and an ankle injury, respectively, the will likely join left tackle David Bakhtiari on the shelf on Saturday evening. Since three of his starting linemen will probably be out, do not expect Aaron Rodgers to see much playing time, even though the third game traditionally serves as the contest which gives starters the most snaps.
With backup quarterback Scott Tolzien working through the concussion protocol after suffering one of his own last weekend, that should mean plenty of reps for Brett Hundley and Matt Blanchard.

Guys....wanted to get your opinion on this pick as I am looking to place a very large wager on it. I'm thinking the Eagles in week 3 preseason at a pick over the Packers because:
1. Eagles back up QB's are significantly better and more experienced than that of the Packers. Eagle's QB's are: Bradford, Sanchez, Barkley, and Tebow; Packers QB's are Rodgers, Tolzien, Blanchard, and Hundley.
2. Scott Tolzien, the #2 QB, is undergoing concussion protocol as we speak. Not sure how this will turn out but my guess is since this is a preseason game, the coaching staff will be careful and sit him.
3. Jordy Nelson was lost for the season their last game. Not only will his individual contributions be missed (even if only for a drive or two), but also I think the coaching staff will want to be more careful with their other players (i.e. Scott Tolzien who was mentioned earlier and also TJ Lang who is the starting right guard and is also undergoing concussion protocol).
4. I am a firm believer in Chip Kelly, the system he runs, and the way he preps his players. I have followed him since his college days and his team always comes out prepared and they are always well conditioned. I think this is evidenced in their first 2 games of the preseason where the Eagles came out strong and beat the Colts and the Ravens by 36-10 and 40-17 respectively.
I have to admit I have not done a lot of preseason NFL betting in my lifetime so I am not sure if I am putting too much credence into any of these factors. For those of you who have, what are your thoughts about this game? Does it seem like a lock or are there things I am not considering here....please let me know! I have been on a cold streak in MLB and am trying to make a big comeback here on this game.
Why would you want to place a large wager in an area where you by your own admission don't know much about the preseason ?
And your coming to a web site to ask about placing a large wager ?
Save your money for games you know and have far more experience with.
And the fact they won big both games is not reason to back them here, things like, regression to the mean, come into play.
Scoring 38 pts a game and winning by 24.5 pts per game is not sustainable, they'd have to be the greatest team in history to sustain that, and why they want to in the preseason ?

@TheClaw...good points. As a big football fan it's tough to wait when I saw some value. The way things are shaking out right now appear to favor the Eagles and I do not find compelling reasons to bet a side often so when I do see it, I jump on it.

@PolarBear we're not talking about the regular season here though, we're talking preseason week 3 only
Pardon me, I could have sworn your 3rd listed main point was that Jordy Nelson's injury would be an advantage in the game tonight, even if just for a drive or two you stated. I was responding to that angle. I personally don't think it's a valid one despite his immense talent, I think his role will be stepped right into by Davante Adams very well and Ty Montgomery will get a prmotion to 3rd wideout that he is very much ready for. Not attacking your play or your other angles just commenting on general on that one as I am sure many people will use it as one this coming season as you are tonight. As for wanting to get guys out early because of it that is just pure guessing and you shouldn't be wildly guessing with thousands of dollars but it's your money and you are entitled to do as you please with it. I do agree with some other things you have there but like any pre season game there is a lot we will not find out until the game actually starts and during it as decisions are made. I'm not a fan of the spot the Eagles are in from a betting perspective but again pre season so how relevant that or anything is, requires lots of blind faith.
GL man, hope it hits for you

I honestly don't think you see much Bradford at all. He took a shot to the legs last week, the weather is supposed to be shitty in GB this week and Bradford is a fragile box. Maybe 1-2 drives. Sanchez and Barkley will win this bet for you....Tebow could lose it for you if Chip gives him a bunch of run. These preseason games will be his last time suiting up in the NFL and Kelly obviously has a soft spot for him....might get more reps than you think.

I love betting on the preseason. People who say it shouldn't be done are losing money. Like the regular season, you still have to pick your spots though.
There are pros and cons to this bet:
The biggest pro:
1) Every Philly quarterback here is competing for his career, either to avoid being cut or for (mini) redemption. That means, even with Tebow, you are going to get a guy who is going to go all out for you on every down, and that goes right to the last QB inserted. That is HUGE and can't be understated. Tebow competing for a career in the NFL is far better than Bryce Petty on the Jets stepping in for Fitzpatrick or Eli just getting a series in for the Giants.
2) Kelly has been pulling out a lot of his playbook with great success in the preseason. He'll continue to as the third game in the preseason is always the most important before the regular season.
I don't have to go on. 1 and 2 are priceless. A QB to play and a coach who is actually interested in running up the score.
3) As you alluded to, after Nelson went down for the year, why in the world would the Pack try to exert themselves and possibly lose another top position player. This lead me to believe a conservative game plan for the majority of the game while the Eagles will continue to run up and down the field.
The Cons:
1) The cow has already left the barn and now you close the door. Jumping on the Eagles right now puts you squarely with...the squares...whether you consider that kind of thing. They are the darlings of the NFL having scored a whopping 76 pts in two preseason game (which is akin to scoring 80+ in two games in the regular season). I would have loved to see this big bet LAST game before the public jumps on the giant bandwagon.
2) Frankly, I don't understand this line. I would put the Eagles as 3/4 pt favorites or better, even on the road.
Even at that, I still think the pros outweigh the cons and I support the bet.

Where i live, i get alot of Philadelphia coverage as well as sports talk radio. When i tell you that Eagles coverage on sports talk radio here dominates the day, thats not an understatement.
You ain't lying. Birds are more than deep at a number of positions, and there are a number of quality guys that are going to be looking to make a statement for their spot on the final roster. Deep at WR and TE. Deep at ILB. Deep in the secondary. D line is top 5. O line is top 5.Deep at running back. WTFKs.
Although I hvae been in Miami now for the past 13 years, I was born/raised in Philly and I still tune in to Philly sports radio to/from work everyday (and Sirius NFL when that gets redundant).
I dont know how much "revenge" one gets by beating a team in the pre-season that whipped your a$$ in a reg season game. Thats not where I like this play. I like this play because GB aint gonna be playing Rogers. His backup might be concussed, no Jordy, etc. While the Birds will be playing Bradford, Sanchez, and/or Tebow, and all of the aforementioned depth.
Again, 1st team vs. first team regular season is a different matchup all the way around, but Eagles backups vs a lot of other teams' backups has me liking this play a lot...and the line is now Birds (-3).

WOW.....just saw my book has philly -5.5 now. Glad I got on this early and hope you guys did too.
This is probably because Tolzien is rumored to be out this game as well as many other starters including O-line which thankfully means Rodgers probably sits hahaha
