The Niners are in a world of hurt. I have been a San Francisco native for 25 years and I have never heard such anger, disappointment and vitriol directed at a team two years removed from a SB. Besides the hate raining on this team, the coach, the GM, and the QB, and the fact that they will all have to put up or shit up this weekend, there are very good reasons to back this team.
1) The Niners are entering their second game after a bye and should have plenty in the tank.
2) They looked worse than they are in the historic monsoon that hit the Bay Area last weekend because Shanahan runs a precision offense and the Colts a no-nonsense smash-mouth team. This SF team has never played well in bad weather. Ever.
3) The Bears are even worse than the Niners and will be missing Mack, a huge deal in this game, as well as their HC, which is less important, but still.
4) This Niners team is actually not as bad as they appear. They should have beaten the Packers. They outplayed Seattle but somehow Seattle won, and they played tough against Arizona, going down to the wire.
I got this line at -3 last night before the Mack injury was announced but I don’t think -4 is an issue. I have not been backing the Niners these past few weeks but this is a great spot for them to bounce back.
Good Luck!

my buddy was at the game on Sunday night, and he said it was very strange cause Shanahan was never talking to anyone, not other coaches, not players as they come off the field. he seemed to be by himself most of the time.
similarly, while the WRs were on the sideline, they were all talking and looking at tablets and throwing the ball back and forth...except Aiyuk, who was also by himself and not looking at a tablet or being involved. if you're the head coach, or any coach, you go over to him and say, "get your a** up and stay involved!!"
something is wrong with this team, not just "on the field" stuff, but something more. something else..

just watching on TV, every time they cut to Shanahan, he was standing there by himself, with a strangely blank stare, not a "I'm concentrating really hard" stare. he seemed to not be there.

Team certainly looks broken, many signs pointing in that direction, which is why I have not backed them for 3 weeks now, but this is a good spot even for a broken team. Players/coaches have to start playing hard for their careers now, even if the team is “dead man walking.” On the other hand, if they win this week and then somehow defeat the Cardinals next week, look out!

49ers have a big dilemma...Keep playing Jimmy and at best finish 9-9 or go with the Rookie when he comes back healthy and deal with his struggles and finish 7-11..Lance is such a big project...and so raw...Forgot..Miami Dolphins own their 1st round pick in 2022.....Best to take the lumps now and let Lance make all his mistakes this season..with rookie QB's you only get 2 maybe 3 years to show your stuff...None of this 4 years like before...

Niners want to have their cake and eat it too. Increase Jimmy G’s trade value, try to win, and develop Lance all at the same time. I think that’s why this team has been such a mess so far. No clear, single objective or ficus, just a bunch of conflicting agendas.

Jimmy is the issue here and shanahan is having trouble game planning a pass game for him when he’s making bone head decisions and not protecting the ball..especially with the run game being hobbled..they definitely missed Trent Williams and kittle blocking that’s for sure..the post game interview by shanahan showed his cards a bit with Jimmy.. he’s definitely extremely frustrated or is literally finished with him and has no other option..
I don’t trust this San Francisco 49ers team as a Favorite right now..but sign me up for next week versus the Cardinals obviously barring any injuries..
I believe this is a throw away year for San Francisco..Shanahan will most likely stay as the head coach even with the record and failures..because he hand picked Lance and will possibly punch everyone in the mouth with an improved rookie and (cross your fingers begginerboy) pick up some competent cornerbacks with Height..the only reason you know the cornerbacks on the team is because all you see is the back of there jerseys every other play
good luck begginerboy

the rookie kid who hasn't earned anything and coasted through training camp has a right to be upset??? His talent is not disputed. Work ethic, details and commitment to your craft might be valued by certain coaches more than others. Shanny has stated that he is a good kid and just needs to put in the work.

A true artist returns to his natural canvas, the gridiron ground of the NFL. BB!! Welcome back man. Can’t wait to read your write up.
That was my writeup, buddy. Lol. Keeping things short. I have a 9-5 now (more like 7-5) and don’t have much time.
As you know, Jimmy G is from Chicago, he will have lots of friends and family in the stands, and this is where he got his first start and win as a Niner. He has lots going for him emotionally and I’m sure his teammates will play hard for him. If he stinks it up this week, he is surely done.

@begginerboy You can start the rebuilding process by firing that overrated bum Kyle Shanahan!
and pick up who ..shanahan would get snatched up real quick..Theres a handful of teams..San Francisco 49ers would be smart to keep him for now..could be worse lol
