I know Chicago well. I'm on the West side 5 days a week for work, in the worst possible neighborhoods you could imagine.
Let me try to say what I'm about to say carefully, I hope. This is how I see it because it's in my face almost everyday.
First off, BAD COPS do exist. Bad apples have ruined the image/integrity of the Police force here in America for years. Some of the most disgusting acts of brutality and abuse of authority are real.
But does anyone ever appreciate these guys for putting their lives at risk everyday? Barely ever. Do you think that they are out their "looking" for a chance to oppress, beat or kill on a daily basis?
Are you kidding me? They are doing their JOBS. At least 99% And they are using the training and techniques they were taught. Do you think you can merely "ask" a person(who is resisting arrest) to kindly step into the police car? No, it takes physical action. And on anyone's cell phone camera this may look a little brutal.
The fact is, in these "black" neighborhoods, the conditions are absolutely brutal. The poverty, the drugs, the gang bangers, the prostitution, the alcoholics...EVERYONE owns a pitbull...It's the saddest type of life you can imagine. But more importantly, you have to be strong, you need eyes on the back of your head, and you down right have to be ready to defend your life at any given moment.
At the same time all though, there are many genuinely good, loving respectable people living here. I know many people that I call friends, and we have nothing in common. What makes the living conditions so dire and unpredictable is that everyone is living in anxiety and fear. Anxiety and fear from getting killed.
Where does Colin Kaepernicks anxiety and fear come from?? Where?? Hackers might get into his bank account? He might get cut from the niners...if he was ever truly oppressed by an authority we don't know about it.
Basically, in Chicago, in these neighborhoods, everyone is strapped. People are killing each other daily at an atrocious rate. Ever since all the recent "Police brutality" jargon the past couple years, you know what's been happening? Cops ain't doing their JOBS anymore. Why? Cause they are under a huge magnifying glass. Who wants to get fired for doing their jobs, or for self defense? These guys have families too. Unfortunately since, crime rates and murder rates have risen.
Lose lose situation. People are dying. They need more Police in these neighborhoods but they are pushing them away.
I can confidently say that Colin Kaepernick does not know sh*t about what's really going on in the real world.
