They largely broke the record because of their strength of schedule, or lack thereof.  We will see how they fare next year when they have to play the NFC west and AFC east plus another meeting with Andrew Luck and a matchup with the Bengals defense.  There is a reason Peyton didn't want to play for the 49ers even though they were his best bet to waltz right in and win--he didn't want to have to play all of those defenses twice (it probably also had something to do with Jim Harbaugh not wanting to allow Peyton to run a pick-and-roll offense.)  I live in Denver and can testify that this whole damn town has been sitting back waiting for the rings to pour in without realizing what they really got--a great QB that is not great in the big games.  He never has been going all the way back to the University of Tennessee and the one Super Bowl he did win was against the great Rex Grossman in the rain.  As a side note: Manning stole that Super Bowl MVP award from Dominic Rhodes.

I'm not like the average numbskull who roots for the team that beat their fave team to lose.  I believe that if the team that beat your team in the playoffs ends up winnign the championship then you can say "well at least they lost to the best".

Those players ONLY BECAME ELITE looking back, NOT FORWARD.

Was K Warner elite BEFORE he won his first SB ?

Was Brady elite before he won his 1st SB ?

Was Eli elite before he won his 1st SB ?

Both Warner and Brady won the SB their very first time their teams made the playoffs, so it would be impossible to call them elite at the time.

Eli was considered a disappointment for the 1st overall player taken in the draft BEFORE he won his 1st SB, how could he have been elite before he won.

Your using the info all wrong, your looking back AFTER they won to call them elite, you can not Bet on those QB's after they won, you would of needed to bet them before they won..................just like you know who..............Wilson.

Was Rodgers elite before he won ? He play Big Ben who you say is elite so when those 2 QB's played you would of bet the elite QB which was Big Ben not Rodgers at the time.

Think about Troy Aikman, in his very first SB , he was 1-1 in playoff games coming into that playoffs.

When Aikman became elite, in his 3rd SB  he play Neil Odonnel  while Neil playing IN HIS 1ST SB, it was Neil who covered the spread , the 1st time QB.
