everything seems like its going accordingly even if the path is slightly different but i still feel the outcome will be as expected.
Week 17 will have some do-or-die games, that is what the league wants
Texans @ Titans for the AFC South title
Packers @ Lions for the NFC North title
possibly AFC North, AFC West, and NFC South wont be decided till the final week with the help of other teams.
some of my predictions are still alive
-Broncos fail to make the playoffs
-Titans win the AFC South
-Packers comeback to win NFC North
-Lions lose division title but still make the playoffs on tiebreakers
the only surprise is the Dolphins.. do they win one of the last two games to clinch the final spot? they possibly could but i still have them finishing at 9-7. Now.. in order for that to happen for them to lose their next two games. 1.) the Bills had to beat the Browns today and are still fighting for a playoff spot so they will need to stay alive by beating the Dolphins with revenge too and 2.) assuming the Raiders are still on the heels of the Patriots with a win against the Colts next week, the Pats would have something to play for in week 17 by beating the Dolphins to lock up homefield advantage. those two scenarios are definitely in play. i'll personally be rooting for the Bills and Raiders next week.

Raiders have clinched a playoff berth today, they have not been in the playoffs since 2002, so this is a fresh team. And this team will be very interesting in 1st playoff game.

i agree europa. better than seeing the same underachieving Bengals or Texans in the playoffs. some fresh blood always a welcome sight. will be interesting to see if Raiders get 2nd or 5th seed. i think they will want to host a home game against the Chiefs..
Chiefs Raiders seems like an inevitable 2nd round matchup. Jack Del Rio giving Reid the death stare. that game is going to be nasty especially if its going to be played at the Black Hole

guess now is the time to look ahead to playoff matchups and predict which team goes to the Super Bowl assuming my earlier predictions goes according to plan. daunting task considering there is still 2 weeks left, anything can happen but i'll take a stab at it.
Wildcard Round
AFC
#6 Ravens vs #3 Steelers
After losing to the Steelers a few weeks ago for the division title, the Ravens come back to Pittsburgh and win on a Justin Tucker field goal. Ravens defense stops LeVeon Bell and limits Antonio Brown just enough to win in an ugly defensive slugfest 23-20
#5 Raiders vs #4 Titans
Two newcomers on the scene who havent been to the playoffs in ages. the road warrior Raiders come into music town and keep doing what they have been doing all season. They win again on the road on the strength of their passing offense, 24-17
NFC
#6 Lions vs #3 Falcons
The Lions have been humbled by losing 4 straight games and the division title to the Packers. the offensive juggernaut of the Falcons give the Lions all they can handle but Matt Stafford keeps the Lions in the game and wills them to a comeback win, 26-24
#5 Giants vs #4 Packers
its going to be cold in Lambeau, maybe snow. the Giants have always made things tough for Aaron Rodgers and they have a little in-season revenge going. However unlike the past Giants team they still dont have a consistent running game and arent efficient on 3rd downs. Despite the defensive effort from the Giants, the Packers outlast the Giants 20-17

The odds are heavily stacked against the Ravens against Belichick and Brady that has 2 weeks to prepare, they have only lost 1 divisional round home game in their lifetime. this could be one of those games where you go what the eff did i just watch? The Pats took away the deep ball and forced Flacco into checkdowns. Remember when you were like who the hell is Ray Rice against the Patriots? Soon you'll be hearing about the likes of Ken Dixon. Ravens get the short passing and running game going much better this time and will open up the deep passing game a bit. The defense will finally show up and Jimmy Smith's prescence will make a difference. The Ravens win on a Tucker FG, 27-24
#5 Raiders vs #2 Chiefs
This will be the third meeting between these two clubs. Remember how the last one ended? Jack Del Rio gave Andy Reid the evil stare. Very ominous. The Raiders will do what they should have done last time. RUN. THE BALL. The Raiders rushing attack gives the Chiefs trouble and soon enough Derek Carr will get Crabtree and Cooper open. The Raiders defense will play just as nasty as they did in the 2nd half of the last game. I say third time is a charm, but it won't be easy until the 4th quarter when they start pulling away at the end, 26-20
NFC
#6 Lions vs #1 Cowboys
Matt Stafford will probably remember how the Lions got screwed out of their last playoff lost to the Cowboys. While I don't think this game may end controversially like the last meeting(who knows its the Lions..), i think the Cowboys will soundly beat a tired Lions team off their first victory in the playoffs in who knows how long and pound the Lions run defense with a refreshed Zeke Elliot, control the time of possession and keep Stafford off the field. Cowboys will play a little dumb and reckless because they are young but not to the point it will cost them the game. refs also got their back just in case.. Cowboys 27-20
#4 Packers vs #2 Seahawks
Can the Packers stay hot and win their 8th straight game over the Seahawks? it can be possible but my gut says no. The Packers for whatever reason seem to have trouble beating NFC West teams in the playoffs and I don't expect this to be any different. Rodgers will make this game interesting nonetheless but they once again come up short in Seattle against a more complete Seahawks team off an humiliating beating earlier at the hands of the Packers a month ago, 24-22

A little deja vu here. The Raiders last played the Ravens in the conference championship in 2001 when the team was also resurging. I think the moment will be too much for this young team against an experienced team like the Ravens but the opportunity sets up a nice window for the silver and black to get in the Super Bowl within the next few years. Raiders beat the Ravens earlier in the season and the year before so it sets up a nice revenge spot for the Ravens. The secondary of the Raiders will be its undoing. could be another high scoring game just like it has been the last two times, Ravens will once again make some dumb mistakes to keep this game close, 30-26
NFC
#2 Seahawks vs #1 Cowboys
I think this will be the moment when the Cowboys get to prove whether they are a championship team. Zeke will be fearless like he had shown against them earlier in the preseason but i don't think it will be enough. The Cowboys offense hasn't been rolling as smoothly lately. If Seattle shuts down the running game, Dak Prescott assuming he is still the QB, will be forced to beat Seattle in the air and that's when the rookie mistakes will start happening. Tony Romo comes in sometime in the 2nd half to try to salvage the game. He plays valiantly, maybe even starting a little comeback, but it will be too much for someone who hasnt played a FULL season. Seattle wins 27-20
SUPER BOWL 51
#6 Ravens vs #2 Seahawks
yeah right lol. if my Ravens do make it that far i'd rather go against the Cowboys or Lions rather than the Seahawks. no matter the seeding that is the scenario that i have played in my mind for a couple months already which is why i have futures on both those teams.
In reality, i really can't see it any other way than #1 Patriots vs #2 Seahawks in s Super Bowl rematch unless my Ravens can do something about it. i've said on a few occassions that I think Seattle is the team likely that wins it all this year, but would be nice if Ravens can somehow do the impossible.
it's going to be an more interesting playoffs than it was last year if the seeding holds true. lots of good potential matchups in my opinion.

Dallas just got a big fat Christmas gift from Philly tonight, Cowboys secured the #1 seed in the NFC playoffs. Dallas will have home field advantage thru out the NFC postseason.
Dallas, New England, Seattle and Oakland have punched the tickets to the Postseason Tourney. Eight more spots are open, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, NY Giants, Kansas City and Atlanta are likely to follow suit later.

sure did. i wonder if dem Cowboys will be partying it up the next 3 days. i am on the Lions +7 and ML on Monday night, Lions need this win to almost guarantee them the 6th seed should they lose the division title and 3rd/4th seed to Green Bay in week 17. would help their cause.

i have a Philly +11.5 (won)/Baltimore +15.5/Detroit +18 10 points teaser, so hopefully Detroit can make a run on Dallas in MNF. However, i think Dallas is a better team over Detroit. Chances are Cowboys will not lose their home game (6-1), but hope for under the spread. Good luck!

Derek Carr broke his right fibular yesterday, probably tosses out Raiders' chances of going deep in the playoffs. Two outstanding clubs in the AFC postseason tourney would be New England and Pittsburgh. Baltimore usually gave New England a tough time in postseason, but they are in danger of missing the playoffs this season if they should lose tonight's game to the Pittsburgh.

Thanks to the Chiefs tonight, the last AFC postseason ticket has been punched, by the Miami Dolphins. Only playoffs seeding is left to be determined in Week 17 for the AFC.

Pittsburgh has clinched AFC North, also Steelers gave a huge Christmas gift to KC. Chiefs are in the playoffs after Steelers beat Ravens today.
Only now just starting to watch the highlights.
both teams played hard just like a classic Steelers/Ravens rivalry you come to expect and Ravens put up a fight but this loss is going to sting a bit...
but i already knew the end wasnt going to be pretty and it sums up how their season has been all year: start fast in 1st half, sit on leads, FG's instead of touchdowns, 2nd half fall apart, turnover the ball and give up some big plays for scores.
I did not want to watch this game at all or know anything about it but i did spoil myself a bit checking the score on my phone on several occasions. knew this was going to happen when Ravens were up by 10 but its not as bad a loss as those AFC Championship games but almost ranks right up there. bad taste in my mouth. congrats Steelers, it was hard-fought victory but we'll get you next time

It seems familiar in the 2014-2015 AFC Divisional Playoffs, when Ravens lost to the hosting Patriots, 31-35.
Looks more likely that we will see Pittsburgh vs New England at AFC Championship this year. While Kansas City has a outside shot at it, perhaps.

week 16 definitely took an unexpected turn and thrown some of my predictions out of wack, and killed my bank in the process. tough week... one of the worst weeks ever.. i've had a couple of winless weeks in the past before and this comes close to being a winless week
still trying to make sense of it all.. all i know is the AFC playoffs wont be quite as interesting as the NFC. Brady has an easy path. only Steelers have legit shot of knocking them out

final leg of the regular season is underway with 4 games left to play. i think by this point we should be able to tell the good teams from the bad teams by now. the divisional races are heating up and there are a bunch of teams still in the wildcard hunt. who will make the playoffs? who will be the #1 seed? But first! Going to set forth a few bold predictions. DK looks through his crystal ball ...
Prediction #1: One #1 seed, if not possibly both, won't make it to the Super Bowl this year thus ending 3 straight years where two #1 seeds met in the Super Bowl.
Prediction #2: There will be at least 2 underdog upsets in the divisional round in this year's playoffs. Last time that happened was 2010-11. Since then there has always been 1 underdog upset but last year there were none as all #1 and #2 seeds advanced.
Prediction #3: There will be 3 teams from last year's Conference Championship round that won't make it to the Playoffs. Two of them you probably already know... and a surprise third one...
Prediction #4: The player that wins the regular season MVP Award.. that team will not make it to the Super Bowl. Cam and Peyton were the two most recent MVPs to go to Super Bowl and lose but this year's MVP wont make it that far..
Prediction #5: The winner of this year's Super Bowl will be a team that has won it before led by a past Super Bowl winning QB
going to go back to my crystal ball and observe a few more things such as how the final quarter of the season will play out
Prediction #3 is over with. Cardinals, Panthers and Broncos are out. its tough to repeat as champions especially with 1/3rd of the roster gone.
we wont know Prediction #4 right until before the Super Bowl but is it anybody's guess that the ROTY and MVP award will probably go to.... Ezekiel Elliot? last time that happened was Earl Campbell?
Prediction #5: we have Brady, Roethlisberger, Russ Wilson, Eli Manning and A. Rod still pending. 5 Super Bowl winning QBs..
Still working on prediction #2. wont know until we get a clearer picture by next week and prediction #1 is still possible as i think it wont be #1 vs #1 but more like #1 vs #3 in the Super Bowl.. or who knows maybe a battle of #3's..

speaking of prediction #5. i think Rodgers is due for another one while he is still in the prime of his career. Russ Wilson too, only a matter of time till they get ring #2. even Big Ben may be due, 8 years since his last one but then again Steelers would have 7 SB trophies...

one thing about the Packers late season success...
in their 6 game winning streak the Pack have a turnover margin of +13(offense:1, defense:14). they are taking great care of the football and defense is making plays
in the Giants last 6 games they have a turnover margin of +5(off:9,def:14). during their 6 game win streak they had a TO margin of +3(off:8, def:11). Eli Manning better be careful with those INT's, the Pack have 17 INTs on the season and 10 of those were during their 6 game win streak.
Giants defense is great in its own right, probably a slightly better defense than the Pack. im sure Aaron Rodgers wont be perfect in this game and maybe will throw a pick. the Giants defense should keep this game close but it all really comes down to Eli forcing the turnover because the Giant running game is still not at the same level as those Super Bowl teams however the run game is picking up a bit of steam as of late. shall be a great game

Giants vs Packers small pre-writeup thoughts

After losing to the Steelers a few weeks ago for the division title, the Ravens come back to Pittsburgh and win on a Justin Tucker field goal. Ravens defense stops LeVeon Bell and limits Antonio Brown just enough to win in an ugly defensive slugfest
#5 Raiders vs #4 Titans
Two newcomers on the scene who havent been to the playoffs in ages. the road warrior Raiders come into music town and keep doing what they have been doing all season. They win again on the road on the strength of their passing offense
NFC
#6 Lions vs #3 Falcons
The Lions have been humbled by losing 4 straight games and the division title to the Packers. the offensive juggernaut of the Falcons give the Lions all they can handle but Matt Stafford keeps the Lions in the game and wills them to a comeback win
#5 Giants vs #4 Packers
same writeup as below
#6 Dolphins vs #3 Steelers
The Steelers are coming in on back-to-back lackluster playoff seasons. they get bounced by Ravens in the wildcard a few years back and last year lost in divisional to a tough Broncos team and probably shouldnt have made it past the Wildcard. This time they will make it an emphasis that they belong here and are in a prime spot to do so against the Dolphins bent on revenge for an humiliating loss early in the season. that was when Ben got hurt and Steelers were at their absolute low with a season high 4 game losing streak. if they remember where the nightmare all started then they must end it with a strong win. Jay Ajayi has been cold in December, he will not get 200+ yards again against them. Le'Veon Bell is hot and ready to roll! 31-14 Steelers
#5 Raiders vs #4 Texans
Will Bill O Brien be the next Marvin Lewis? the Texans seem to have some things in common with the Bengals. Didnt they play each other twice in the playoffs before? pass the baton. the Texans get an favorable matchup against a rookie QB who has not played a full NFL game. i think it'll be too much for the Raiders to overcome as they are still heartbroken over the loss of Derek Carr. oh what it could've been. 20-13 Texans

Golden Tate gets to revisit his old stomping grounds where he was once a Seahawk. both teams are looking to rediscover themselves and i think Seattle will be the one to find it first after a quarter of soul searching. Rawl's will finally get the Seahawks geound game going. Russ Wilson will make all the poise throws that Matt Stafford fails to make. 30-17 Seahawks
Despite the defensive effort from the Giants, the Packers outlast the Giants 20-17

i will gather my thoughts for this one and put it out in a few days. another in-season revenge game on deck. Will Seahawks defense come out of it's shell for this one? let's be fair, the Lions weren't really a great offensive team to begin with. the Hawks will be challenged vertically through the air by Matt Ryan, Julio and co, and on the ground with Freeman and Coleman. they always play the Seahawks tough and last time i remember the Falcons beat the Seahawks in the divisional in Russ Wilson's rookie year and almost beat them this year in Seattle.
