Every Sunday Night Football game is the same

Except for the Eagles it's been favorite winning and not covering every game, and every game coming down to the last possession.

If you had SF you had to be certain you were finally going to get a favorite cover. They don't give it to CMC at the goal line. 3rd down the guy has a crease right there and he doesn't even slip but he falls down.

Watching the Chargers struggle and get super lucky to beat Atlanta last week and their horrible defense and then you hear about all the guys coming back for SF, off the bye week, at home... Man it's tough for bettors out there.

Last week the Chiefs had almost 500 yards and the Titans 2 something it went to OT.

After the Buffalo/GB debacle I have found it is more enjoyable to end my Sunday by watching the SNF with no action - these games are the epitome of why the NFL is no longer good for gambling. just my opinion.

 Taking the field goal at the end made no sense. Chargers could have won the game if they had a touchdown. Niners were lucky for that interception at the end.

Ran the ball down their throat all night and couldn’t pick that TD up at the end— seems a little odd but that’s why they call it gambling—had Niners by the way-oh well on to the next one 

Let's kick the field goal and give them a chance to beat us with a td! Niners offense stinks but cannot make a td from 3 yard line and kicking a fg is down right fixed! NFL is starting to smell like wwe smack down!  I think I'm gonna start watching real football (soccer)

San Fran conveniently covered 2nd half but not full game. Dude just drops to the ground on goal line run. What was the delay around the 2 minute mark when they stopped play and all the refs huddled up? I missed it but no flags were thrown so was confused in the moment 

The rigging of these games is pretty blatant, with all the legal gambling now it's shady as hell. There will be a documentary on Netflix in 20 years about how they were cheating right now.

Well it made perfect sense at that point because without a FG a FG ties the game and you could lose. No timeouts none of their top WRs, not able to sniff the end zone since the 1st half I would have been confident they wont score a TD.

But what made no sense is that they took out Juzyzck and CMC on the goal line. And then the other RB falls down untouched with a crease right there.

Football is actually not any good for gambling on any more and I'm definitely quitting after this season. All the recent trends p*ss me off and every game is a sweat. Even on good days I don't enjoy it, and those good days are usually just when I avoided being on the wrong side of the nonsense. Capping games right does nothing any more.

Besides the stupid going for it on 4th down crap creating crazy variance, I've noticed some other disturbing trends lately.

One, it's turned into the NBA where any team up big suddenly can't do anything all 2nd half. Look at the Bills not just today but like every game. Even the undefeated Eagles did that the first month of the season.

The team winning at halftime is losing the game or the cover way more than used to be now. Chargers were winning at HT today.

My favorite play of the day was believe it or not the Bucs. Just had a feeling they matched up well and had the much better defense. They dominated the whole game and yet probably wouldn't have covered if Geno hadn't fumbled in the red zone.

My 2 1 pm plays were Giants and Steelers (i like teams off the bye usually) and the Texans had literally 3 posessions inside the 20 that could have backdoored me, but they had a fumble, a pick, and thankfully kicked a FG on the last one.

Then I had Dallas... Yeah I'm sure we all saw that one coming.

These games are just a way for them to inject advertising into your eyeballs. Now half the ads are for bookies! We're all being played. Sit through 3.5 hours where they stick an ad on every 2 minutes and then no matter if you're team is up 20 points or not it's gonna come down to some late game shenanigans of will they go for it, will they kick, will they review this or that.

I bet on other stuff including horse racing and basketball and used to consider football the best thing to bet on. With horses, in a 10 horse, you have 1 horse the bookie has the other 9. In basketball so many covers are decided by silliness at the end of the game - free throws and desperation 3s that often don't matter for the SU winner. Sometimes they'll just let a guy get a layup at the end.

But now football is just as bad as basketball. They stretch the game out and try to stop it as many times as possible to give the losing team a chance to switch the momentum.

At least in horse racing I don't have to worry about if the coach is trying to be a boy genius. They just try to win.

Down the stretch late November into December tends to be good for favorites as the bad teams usually have injuries and just start caring less. If you're playing a lot of favorites so far this year you're getting killed. So hard to get a cover out of a favorite now even when they dominate. The NFL just wants people watching to the end so no bet is ever safe.

It's not really fun to have a bet on football any more because even when it looks like you have the right side they just stop scoring all 2nd half or the refs bail out the losing team. You're just waiting to see how they manufacture a tight game and it almost always happens somehow. I mean this has to be the worst year ever for bad beats.

I feel bad for all the wives and GFs of bettors there is gonna be a massive wave of addicts losing all their Christmas present money to fanduel now that betting is legal in America 

I've bet on football every Sunday (and most Saturdays) for the past 22 years and I actually feel really stupid for not realizing until now how much of a con it is. I'm actually glad that it was such a sh*tshow this year with all these analytics d*ckwads messing up spreads getting stuffed on 4th down because it made me take a closer look at the ridiculousness.

And if you look at how the cover was decided tonight it's a really good example. If you had a Charger ticket you know you were expecting to lose because the 9ers could only kneel it out if the Chargers were out of timeouts and they had all 3. Watching LAC last time (i had them vs Atlanta) i would have never backed them in this game vs a team getting healthy off the bye 

 I would have had SF for sure, and I would be sick right now. Just like I was sick when Baltimore didn't go for it vs the Bengals (and their coach was the poster boy for it who started the trend!) And just like i was sick when the Dolphins wouldn't kick to go up 9. Just like I was sick when Allen threw an end zone pick and they gave up a Rodgers bomb and didn't score at all the 2nd half 2 weeks ago. All those were half point losses.

At that point I decided not to end my Sundays with a SNF bet any more. And you know what I actually enjoyed nothing more than watching that final sequence knowing I didn't have to care that an athlete who gets paid millions to run with a ball couldn't run 3 feet wihout falling over. I would be really annoyed again right now if I had bet on SF.

The more I think about it the more I'm thinking why wait til after this season to quit. This is what the NFL is now and maybe I'll enjoy my Sundays a lot more without it. So many hours over 2 decades of worrying about whether some dumb jocks with scrambled brains will not burn my cash. Except I'm actually dumber than the dumb jocks for betting on it. They'll still be rich even if they trip over a blade of grass.

It's sports played by a team of individuals, not a scripted event that we guess the outcome. We don't know how many offensive lineman got laid last night and are feeling great or if the cornerback just had their mother-in-law move in. All we can do is research situational stats and lay our money down.

Yeah i think usually the first half of the season lots of dogs cover but favs come back down the stretch especially in December when the top seeds are locking up positions. I used to have a theory that the bookies don't mind the public teams covering a lot at that point because by that point most of the public is too broke to bet from all the dogs covering in weeks 1-13!

I am actually just tired of watching football in general it's been so long it's so repetitive and when the game is actually crazy like the Buffalo Minnesota game today, if you are worried about a bet you can't even enjoy the excitement.

Even when I win I don't really enjoy it now. I just think 'Oh, well that makes up for that bad beat from the last game ' and then you bet the next game and get a bad beat on that one usually lol.

Also I'm in my 40s now and I realize that whatever about the money, you can always get more cash, but you cannot replace time. Time is finite and way more precious. How much more of that precious time do I want to spend worrying about whether a guy got his foot inbounds or not or whatever stupid thing is gonna decide if I win or lose my hard earned.

If you can be selective and only bet sporadically then that's a good way to do it but for most of us we will bet way too many games, at least one in each slate and probably id say most guys bet at least 4 games on Sunday-Monday and probably same on Saturday. And then during the week a game or two. Plus all the time you spend doing 'research'. It takes up a ton of headspace for most people I'd say.

I spent a weekend in jail once and didn't even miss any action. I got picked up on some old warrant for a missed court date and as it was Thanksgiving I got stuck there from Thursday to Tuesday. I had already put in a bunch of bets on my online bookie.

There was a big screen TV on the floor of the lower tier that the guards watched, and we could watch it from our cells. My cell had a perfect view. I watched the Thanksgiving games NFL, Black friday college games, Saturday College games, and Sunday NFL. I remember it clearly. I went 4-2 over the 4 days. Dallas beat Washington on Thanksgiving, Notre Dame beat USC, and the Eagles beat the Giants on Sunday. Those were the ones that I was able to see on the TV.

The Eagles game was the best.

This was in Philly and everyone was watching it, banging on their cell doors and hollering loud as hell every time they made a good play. It was almost as good an atmosphere as being at the game lol. Tbh that's the most fun I had watching a football game since I was at the game where Terrell Owens did the Ray Lewis dance. What I remember about that game was the Linc was fairly new and there was a loose piece of metal panel at the front of our seats on the upper level. And of course there these guys banging on it to make noise every 3rd down.

Eventually it fell off and dropped down, probably on somebody's head and I imagine there was a lawsuit. The dudes who were banging on it got kicked out but then they let them back in.

You're absolutely right buddy. Lots of good points and great stories. You keep preaching 2those non believer and denier about them Wisemen hahaha. Truly, hope 1 day they'll open up their eyes and believe in what it's witnessing hahaha. 

Most of us wouldn't have to work if Sports was played straight up with pure honesty (no Wisemen involvement hahaha). Unfortunately, it's just pure Entertainment 

The biggest change in last decade was the kick off starting spot. It was hard for Vegas 2cap (controls) TOTALS before when a kick off can be return for touchdown (2many variable). It makes game go over or a quick cover (Bears Devin Hester hahaha). Now most kick off either touch back or run back out 2same spot 25-30 yard line lol. It gives Vegas more control of the game.

It's a sick dirty game. Yet, we still play it hahaha SMH
