I'm definitely not a homer, but this just seems too easy. Eli wants that third now that Peyton has two, all the offensive weapons coming back, and a beefed up (and expensive) defense.
Plus, how much more Romo/Garrett/Jerruh can the fans take? Why Garrett still has his job is beyond me. And Kirk Cousins ain't "elite" enough to win that division again.

    Eagles??? - -

    Thoughts?

I kinda like it however who knows whats gonna happen in the NFC East

    Some pros

Giants have the 2nd easiest schedule however Dallas has the easiest

    https://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/62025/446/superior-strength-of-schedule

They don't have to travel many miles

    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2016-nfl-schedule-rams-will-travel-the-most-miles-steelers-the-fewest/

Redskins have quite a hard schedule, if they had the same strength of schedule as Giants I would probably favour them over Giants

Eagles hard schedule, deserve to be least favourite

Overall I think Dallas still deserves favouritism, obviously the winner in the division is going to need to stay healthy which means its just a crapshoot. If Dallas oline, romo, bryant, elliot are healthy they should win the division.

Cowboys started even a heavier favorite last year, and look what happened. I seriously don't know how or why J.G. is still head coach, he must have some naked pictures of J.J. or something. Plus, Romo's not getting any younger, so we now have a two-pronged effect with him:

    1. - He still thinks he's the young gunslinger that needs to make things happen every pass play, takes a bad shot to his already bad back - he's out for the season by week 3 like last year.....

    2. - starts pulling his punches, favoring health over playmaking, runs all of J.G.'s lame "safe" plays - now they're the Browns with a higher payroll and fan base.....

Going with my gut - Eli's an ironman, and he's been there. Sounds like he likes McAdoo's system too.....

    Dallas u 8.5 for me.   Defense so messed up.  I wouldn't be scared @ u 7.5.

    @Philly -7  / Cleveland in the opener.

    Only plays so far.

I'm thinking NYG also but haven't played it.

Redskins a much deeper team than LY squad. Wouldn't surprise me if they repeat. 3rd year in the system usually spells success.

My big concern would be the HC change, just because of the unknown. While Mcadoo probably couldn't be any worse than Garrett, you just never know. But considering the schedules, & the fact that we already know about Garrett & Romo, the +220 seems like decent value.

This is some of the worst pontificating around. The Giants at full strength were 6-10 last year. Oh they lost some close games? Dallas lost 6 games by 7 points or less without their QB and without Dez Bryant, featuring that "awful" defense (17th is far from awful) that you speak of.

That's right, they lost 6 games by a score or less with Matt Cassel (statistically the 32nd ranked QB last year).

Hate all you want, Jason Garrett has a winning record overall and that's including all of last year when the Cowboys struggled mightily to move the ball without Romo.

Another funny stat: Prior to 2015's COLLARBONE (not back) injury, Tony Romo missed only two games since 2010. That's right. Look it up. Meme busted.

Look, I'm no Cowboys fan, I'm just an unbiased football dude who sees through this fanboy BS you have undoubtedly picked up from NFLN or ESPN, or your local sports bar where people like to talk a lot without putting in the work. I watch every game of every team, and the Giants are a good team. This is an ok bet, but if you're acting like your bet isn't going to be tested by the Cowboys, you are likely to be very disappointed.

As with all predictions, everything assumes that there are no catastrophic injuries ...

Dallas wins the division as long as Romo stays on the field.
Last year the Cowboys were terrible ... they were 1-11 without Romo, but they were 3-1 with Romo on the field.

The Cowboys record with Romo and without Romo over the last 10 years is so out of balance it is almost incomprehensible.

I won't bother posting all the stats, but Romo's numbers over his career are as good as just about anyone who has ever played the game. His 4th quarter stats, his comeback wins, his overall QBR, they are all HOF level compared to the other QB's of his era.
(if the Romo haters are going to chime in, please bring individual stats to backup your position, and I will do the same in my retort. SB rings are a team stat)

An argument to be made against the Giants would be that it seems each years highest spending team in FA is that years biggest disappointment. I have absolutely no data to back this up, it just seems that way to me

Besides that, a good reason not to take a season long bet at +220 is that they will hold your money for 17 weeks.

Appreciate the feedback, still going with my gut and doing the simple math:

    Eli>Romo
    Eli & Romo>Kirk Cousins

The coaches and staff are a wash for me all around, but the Giants did shore up some of the issues on their weak-azz 'D'.....

Good luck all, let's break them books this season!!!!!

If you feel this confident you should take the Giants money line week 1 vs Cowboys at +160. A week 1 loss to dal would be a hard thing to overcome to win the division. Get paid righ away instead of waiting 17 weeks. I do agree with the Giants to be much better this year especially JPP but would hate to the have the money sitting for 17 weeks.

Why not take the Giants Moneyline week 1 +160. Instead of the book holding your money for 17 weeks. You can argue to win the division they have to get that game.

Thought about that, but Eli & the Giants don't usually come out of the gate strong, plus the game is in Dallas and it's the home opener. Also, I do enough "quick payout" wagers throughout the season, I consider a wager like this a long term investment. I took the S.F. Giants at the beginning of this season, and so far, that one's looking pretty good too, knock on wood.....

I really like the giants this year.
    That division is wide open
Don't put too much stock in Dallas
Just a poorly run team since parcels left.

I really like the value on the pick +220 seems like a gift. First i will say this eagles will be a joke this year with a mediocre defense chip kelly ran that team into the ground and if that was not enough the gm thought it was a brilliant idea to trade even more picks away this year on a hope and a dream. Second i dont expect the cowboys to do much with romo and garret, cant count out that great offensive line though. To me the toughest competition is the skins they always play the giants tough and they have an even better team this year than last year all depends on kirks cousins success. I am not exactly sold on the giants 0-line but something tells me eli will put up unreal numbers this year along with a new and improved defense behind him

Take the giants to win week one moneyline and take the eagles to win the division.    Anyone who thinks eagles will be a joke has not done there homework on THIS years team.     Eagles win 10-12 games and the division.

Agree with Hugh & Porcelainfist. Heavy regression combined with the arrivals at skill positions should push the Cowboys to 10-13 wins.

Can romo make it through the whole year healthy?  For some reason they ignored the backup qb issue that ruined last season, it could ruin this season as well.   Why didn't they trade for Glennon or Mccown or sign hoyer?

That defense has no pass rush, key players suspended, Sean Lee would help immensely, but can he stay on the field?

If they are healthy then 10 or more wins is possible like you said, but can they stay healthy?

    Giants spent too much money.

Paid players=less motivation and a tendency to play "not to get hurt"

I too like the Giants opening it up this year.  Obviously DAL is the bigger roadblock in the division, but injury-prone Romo is prolly spending more time on the sidelines during the season.  NYG Offense should be clicking more this year, plus the Defense has some bright spots coming back.

Still, I'd like a little more value than the +220 tbh, but gun to my head I take this bet over any other in the division (maybe take over 8 win total too here.)

Dallas wins division 13-3 (no injuries)
    Redskins make wild card 10-6
Giants too new, won't see over 8 games
Eagles bottom of division 5-11 at best
