Silly way for a defensive coordinator to spew out those lowly words by trying to injure opponent's QB. i think Saints' defense will get pounded by Manning and Co coming Feb. 7.

I read this and they are basically boasting that they will Go after Manning . I also looked at the injury report for the Colt's .It does not look all that good .trust me this is going to be an attempt by the saints to put Manning out of this game for a cheap shot win at all cost the problem is they aren't trying to disguise it and make no bones about coming out hard and hurting the guy .I kinda like their approach because Manning and Company will rip them apart .The thing I don't like at this particular point is that the Colt's have a lot of injuries on the defensive side that may or may not hinder them .This is going to take some back ups to step up and have a great game . What I do think will happen is that brees will be the one ending up on the injured list

He said what all defensive coordinators believe and think...the more a qb gets hit and punished the less likely he is to stand confidently in the pocket and make accurate passes. If you can do it within the rules then there is no problem...all his words have done is make the refs more aware and I am sure it is something that they will be watching very closely.
You have to get after qb's in the NFL. It is the only chance a defense has when playing against a good qb. The rules in the NFL definitely favor the offense, so how can a defense be successful against a good qb, by hitting the shit out of him every chance they get to disrupt his timing, take away a little of his confidence and make him throw the ball before he wants to

Guys this is a violent sport, this is the normal way for every def coordinator to think. I absolutely have no problem with it.
Now why does this not shock me.
If the DC for Indy said they were going to smuggle in some mace to spray in Brees face, then go after his head on every play even if it meant ejection of a lineman, I dont think you would approve..

That said, I don't have a problem with it. I told a buddy of mine before the Saints game that they were going to try and kill Favre. As long as you do it within the rules, then it's fine by me.

But they went outside the rules on numerous occasions. They were willing to do that even if it meant a 15 yarder here and there. It is their only chance against Manning, so they will try again.
Problem is, if a team is willing to do it outside the rules, then every starting QB could get knocked out and we'd be watching semi-pro football. The NFL has to protect the QB to protect their product. It is really that important. It's not about being wimpy. It's about protecting the presentation of the game. It's about $!
How would you feel if Manning did get knocked out early and the SB became a boring, tainted win by the Saints? Or if Brees also got knocked out and we had to watch a SB of Curtis Painter vs. old Mark Brunnell. See my point?
