I do NOT subscribe to the fixing camp's narrative, as even a whisper of such a scandal would cripple the league and its growth and popularity going forward... the NFL does not need to fix games/outcomes imo, so they don't. They simply rake in billions, and that's just the way they like it.

the NBA does not enjoy the same popularity as the NFL, I was waiting for somebody to bring this up. I believe that NBA games were and are fixed still -- but 5 dudes per side, two hoops, and a small court is different than a large football field and 10+ officials, replays, dozens of coaches etc... you are comparing apples and oranges and very different revenue pools not to mention 80 games vs 16... only attention starved jamookies and degenerate gamblers watch the NBA regular season.

Although you are right in their relative sizes, you still missed it by thaaat much...FIFA is a multinational organization that deals with nearly every country and BILLIONS of dollars in relation to those countries hosting the world cup, etc.The NFL is a USA non-profit (LOL) entertainment corporation that pretty much has a license to do whatever they want with THEIR entertainment product (as far as outcomes go)Look at the charges brought against FIFA by the USDOJ.  Most if not all wouldn&#x27;t be applicable to the NFL producing an outcome that they themselves wanted.Just a quick snippet on the FIFA charges:The federal indictment charges the alleged FIFA co-conspirators with, among other things, violations of  New York State criminal code provisions related to "commercial bribery". This is the core crime, as these laws criminalize making or receiving a payment intended to alter an employee or agent&#x27;s behavior as to his or her employer to grant a benefit to the briber. The rest of the charges essentially relate to the methods by which they carried out this core crime: racketeering, conspiracy, wire fraud, etc.If the NFL decided they wanted team A to win the Superbowl and ensured their employees (i.e. refs) did what they needed to do to produce that outcome, they wouldn&#x27;t have violated anything above. the network bought the rights to air the event for a fee to nfl

network sells commercial time to individuals or pacs or corporations

The President usually gets a 2 minute spot between quarters 3 and 4 .

these corporations bought their spots about an hour after cbs bought its right to show the event.

these corporations can determine out come. but why?

whether manning wins or cam wins they win.

getting the cheaters out of the way I get that.

The FEDS and DOJ would have just as much enforcement ability (or interest) in who the NFL allowed to win THEIR Superbowl as they would have in regards to who my company selected as employee of the year.Should soap opera producers be concerned?
