In case you don't realize, the NFL's profitability (and standing as the most profitable sports league in the world) is directly related to their TV contract.  The NFL's current TV contract is worth 27 BILLION dollars.  After the 2014 season (?), each team's share of league revenue (primarily made up from their TV contract) was about 226 MILLION.  For reference, Green Bay, most likely one of the more profitably teams, showed a NET profit of only 25 MILLION in their reportings (the only team required to do so).

With that in mind, HOW do you think the NFL can command such a ridiculous TV contract?  It's not by providing a boring product.  Drama, excitement and storylines are what bring in the viewers.  Walking Dead would suck if all they did was stand around a shooting range and shoot zombies.  Game of Thrones would have been cancelled if each episode consisted of them guarding that wall of ice.  Do you think the Super bowl would be as exciting and as big as it is if the Patriots were there every year for the last 5-10 years?

Going even further as to your ? on why would they want Manning to win...here's the most simple explanation...the majority of viewers would rather see an underdog prevail, especially the casual fans.  Watching the favorite teams win all the time gets boring real fast.  If underdogs never have a shot or prevailed, there'd be no drama.  Ask Floyd Mayweather all about viewership and how much of a difference having a live underdog going against you and what that does to your numbers.  His last fight against an opponent that had no shot was almost an embarrassment $$ wise.  People tune in to see if the underdog can pull it off and they STAY tuned in for the entire 3-4 hour broadcast (and watch all those advertisements) if the underdog still has a chance to prevail in the end.

Further, Manning has been one of the faces of the NFL for a long time.  Winning this super bowl would do wonders for his brand image's longevity, especially if he retires.  He goes out a winner.  He'll always be mentioned as one of the best with 2 rings and not the overrated QB how couldn't get it done in the playoffs.  In retirement, his brand remains strong (and by extension the NFL's brand image) and all facets of "Manning" would still spark interest.  He'll be another ambassador for the NFL brand.  Even better if he comes back another year..that would be another interesting storyline...can they repeat?  On the flip side, CAM LOSING this superbowl wouldn't hurt his luster in the least.  He has MANY years in the league to shine bright and help the NFL brand.  All in all, a DENVER win here would provide the NFL a greater overall positive impact than a Carolina win (in my opinion).  Cam and Carolina can get theirs next or the following year.

I am not buying that script NFL wants to expand internationally with London its next big expansion. in London as dribble knows you have the right to remain guilty until a fair trial allows you to reclaim your innocents.

this game is straight up just because they can fix it doesn't mean they will. your comparing week to week like non winners of two races to the Kentucky derby.

I am putting 250 on Carolina and 10 to 1 manning done by the third quarter.good luck with your wagers.

I have one simple question I'd like answered to my satisfaction.  If the NFL is rigged, how has not one single player (named or even anonymous), coach, assistant, etc. come forward with this?  There are 1,696 players in the NFL on rosters (not including coaches, front office, etc) just this year.  How come one has never come forward year-after-year?  You CANNOT keep that many people in on such a conspiracy; one would talk (more likely thousands would, but you get the idea).  

I get that there may be a rouge ref or whatnot, but the league rigged, get outta here!

You're saying the league is going to go to Brady and his O-line and tell them to play badly so he can get beat up and lose?  That's not happening, and if it were "forced" on them to do so, someone would talk eventually.  The "fix is in" is complete and utter non-sense.

thank you incognegro... I have uttered similar sentiments and been ridiculed off of the board (my own choosing). This is the NFL's wet dream for this season, Manning's last dance/potential passing of the Torch to "SuperCam", the face of the NFL for likely the next decade, and a brother to boot... no need to try and coerce a particular outcome here, and sane folks realize this.

This game super bowl 50 no way

 

Dribble saw through a crack in the door and it rattled him

 

I try to show the back room

 but like most he has a piece of the truth

 and to him it’s the most important piece ever.

 

But looking at the 50,000 pieces it will take to pull this caper

 and cast reasonable doubt that the fix isn't the answer is next to impossible

 

I would compare this potential act

 to what Putin would describe as shearing a domestic Yorkshire boar

Their be a lot of squealing rough dangerous work and in the end NFL would get very little poor wool for the trouble

 to keep the squealing from being heard would be impossible

Denver needs a lot of help to win this.

theory

Opening the backroom. There is ratings a 30 sec commercial spot goes for about 5 million for 30 sec.

 

Championship game around a half a million for top spots. Comparing the afc championship game to the super bowl is like an apple to the fruit stand in terms of revenue.

 

Now the script yes the AP has two completely different stories to run in the newspapers coming Monday morning feb 8th with a few adjustments this story will hit news streams in around five minutes after the game is done allowing papers time to set the print and run the paper by a morning deadline of around 2 am.

 

The scripts are not cut and dry. Like the ne over time win vs manning going to the super bowl.

 

I went for the overtime win in that because it made sense to me good vs evil sells.

The game was made for the eventuality of this game.

Arizona "ATS" had nothing to do with it.
You claimed Arizona would lose those two games to make the Seattle game have meaning. Nice try, though.

How come no one out of thousands upon thousands of players, coaches, NFL officials, management, front office people, ball boys, etc have ever come out (anonymous or otherwise) saying the NFL is rigged.  Simple question guys.  I posed it hours ago and still no one has bothered to answer it (other than Naesiy who dodge the question and Dribble who names an undocumented source).  If you answer to my satisfaction, I may start to believe your side.

This is EXACTLY what everyone was saying ALL WEEK, regarding today's game vs PATS. In fact, quite a few even went as far as to say that PATS would win by 2-3 TDs.

 

My friend, the Super Bow teams are pre-selected, like your presiudents, congressmen and senators. Yup, hate to break it t oyou. No way in hell Goodell and the other 31 owners were letting the Pats even REACH the SB this year. I predicted that even before the season started. You don't show up the league and win the SB in the same year. Not the way it works.

 

That being said, the Broncos were smashed last time in the SB. No way in HELLL the league lets the mget back t othe SB unless it's to win. 

 

Copy and paste my post somewhere, and see me after the SB. The SB will be Manning's final game in the NFL. He will win and announce his retirement less than a week later. Tears will be shed, and football royalty---the Manning family---comes full circle.

Speaking of deflecting and being evasive...this has been answered ad nauseam in nearly every thread talking about the possible "fix", HENCE my comment.  Maybe if you stop repeating the same old tired question that's already been given (multiple) answers to we can move forward with this discussion.  I'm not about to sit here on repeat cause you're too lazy to read.

Joey Porter never backed off in one of the more obvious attempted fixes ever played. Plus do you have a link of Bubba Smith backing off? It is not that I don't believe you...but I don't belileve you.
