which leads to me saying the Lions will play their best game of the season. C J Garner-Johnson is playing only his third game of the season since being knocked out in the second game of the year against the Seahawks he did lead the NFL in interceptions last year with the Eagles and got his first against the Bucs last week I think he has knocked the rust off and will be a huge part of the secondary in this game with Branch.

No sir -- it is not. No serious data guy in football believes that. It is more a raw numbers average.
But that is still not to take away from the greta year he had.
Efficiency is a totally different thing. Especially when you look at situational data.
Even when you look at one-score games. Or late in 2H games. Etc., etc.
The QB rating rewards someone more that piles up good numbers and not necessarily efficient numbers when it is crunch time or when it matters the most.

Um, no sir, every serious data guy knows that a team's passing efficiency is the most all encompassing measure of a teams offensive efficiency.
You can cherry pick all the situational stats you wat, but Passing Rating encompasses EVRYTHING.
Nice try though

I will give you another rating that makes SF number 1
San Fran scores .38 points per pass play, against a schedule fiving up .24 PPPP for an out-performance ratio of 152.9%
Number 1 in the NFL.

Even the standard rating has been updated by a lot of folks with the QBR rating. You can go over to ESPN and look at those ratings.
It is not cherry-picking as much as parsing out the critical numbers that reward efficiency more than a rating that rewards raw numbers is all.
Again, I am not taking anything away from Purdy -- simply pointing out that he is not the most efficient QB is all.
There are actually some very well-written articles on the deficiencies with the old QB rating system if you get interested in them.
Just measuring overall raw numbers will sometimes give you a false impression -- good or bad of a QB. Not always, because a QB that has a top rating will also be more efficient than a very low rated QB. But a group that is say in the top 10 in rating will NOT necessarily be in that same order in efficiency ratings. Same thing at the bottom end -- a very low rated QB may be more efficient than a slightly higher rated QB.

Yes, I think you are thinking I am saying SF is not that good of a team -- I am not.
They are very good and there are plenty of numbers to indicate it.

Not at all, i appreciate your perspective, its balanced.

I wont disagree with anything you say.
All i say is the BEST OVERALL gauge now, is QB Rating, as its all-encompassing.

How do you counter the passing efficiency that Jared Goff has better passer rating over Brock Purdy in the postseason, 111.8 vs 86.7? I will be glad to see your take, thanks!

Jared Goff is an awesome human being. One of my fav players.
He is vastly under rated: he is very seasoned, has met many challenges in his career, and excelled. The first-round game against the Rams was incredible. I was happy for him, that he got his due respect.
Purdy, not as seasoned. Lacks confidence at the wrong times. Will grow in time. Not the leader on his Offense: so much uber talent around him, but not the leader.
Right now, no question, Goff is the better QB. More seasoned. is the leader of his team.
The dilemma for goff is he is facing the number 4 ranked defense on my rankings.
Purdy is facing the number 20 defense on my ratings.

Jared Goff's stats on grass where he will be playing this weekend are not as good as on artificial surfaces.
2023 Regular Season, Touch Down vs Interception and QB Rating:
On Grass, 5-3 and 87.1
On Artificial Surfaces, 25-9 and 101.2

excellent point but with Detroit new weapon in Jameer Gibbs this is going to put Frisco on the heels, Detroit moneyline is cash money no doubt about it

I respect the lions offense, they are very solid. They however, do not have better weapons, that’s flat out wrong. They are behind the niners In basically every statistical category. Granted they aren’t too far behind, but they are behind. lions have a good run d, but they aren’t great at inside and outside zone, which is the bread and butter of the niners run game. Also, they have never faced a rb as good as mccaffrey. Their secondary is garbage, and purdy will put up big #s on them. Maybe you listen to the garbage noise about him, but he will exploit this secondary.

Who is the #1 rated efficiency passer in adjusted DVOA ??
That is the stat you have been attempting to describe by using Passer Rating / QBR.
adjusted DVOA > Passer Rating
The answer is the same though, its Brock.

Lol dude can’t back up anything up with stats, so resorts to this dumb rebuttal. Oh btw genius, the lions have only played one game on the grass since November. That game they scored 13 points against the bears and Goff threw for 161 yards. Goff is also 2-7 against the niners and 0-5 last 5. But lookingtowin keep on Motown dreaming
