I cannot believe NE went for it on 4th and 8 up 52-0....

First, it was 4th and 5, and you see this a lot in games where teams are up 21+ in the fourth quarter and they are running a ton to shorten the game, no point going for a long field goal (especially in these conditions) and why punt.  It certainly isn't that crazy.  If they had been up 28 or 35 instead of 52 does that make it any better.  This is the NFL, not pee wee league, they didn't throw deep, just a swing pass that they would have stopped if they hadn't already quit two quarters ago.  They haven't thrown on anything but third/fourth down for almost 20+ minutes.  Its more insulting to punt from the 28 rubbing it in that they and TRYING not to score.  Pointless thread.

I know where your coming from, but in reality shouldn't this Titans defense be able to stop a 2nd string QB from throwing on their asses all day?

The call to go for it was the correct one, but you got for it in that scenario to obviously get a 1st...6yds in the snow would be tough to run and pick it up..  Pass is the only option there...it's just a weird situation with the score.

So you are saying that out of 30 NFL coaches, most would have gone for it and thrown the ball?

Im saying that this would happen VERY infrequently, and therefore I am surprised.

You cant beat me in a battle of football strategy.  I get it.  I am making a point that I think this was an unusual move and I am surprised.

I believe this is Hoyer's first NFL regular season action, so I don't find it all that odd.  How many chances during a season do you actually get to place your 2nd stringer in a game to get him experience?
