Sadly you have to weigh the replacement costs vs. paying people what they are asking. If you run a powerplant and your employees are asking for a raise. You deny them and bring in incompetent employees that release nuclear waste, etc. do you just say I couldn't just give in so I got whatever I could?
I agree that the talking heads make it worse but there were multiples games this weekend that were terrible without anyone telling me it was bad.
I've never seen multiple games where penalties are marked off from the WRONG yard line. Ever.

badlands, that's not really my point. yes, the new refs are bad and yes they are in over their heads. but let's not forget that the regular refs are very bad as well. better, but bad. and it seems worse because of the announcers. they are ridiculous.
what i'm saying is the nfl is not in an easy position. you have a bunch of shit employees asking for a raise. if i was making the decision, i wouldn't be quick to give in. it will be painful and hopefully these replacement clowns get better but there's no easy decision here.
dude read up on what the NFL wants the real refs to take. Id be pissed to if the NFL said heres the deal you take all this shit or we lock you out. Its not the refs its the NFL...

It's almost 6 in the morning over here and because of the ending to the game, I just can't sleep, I'm so glad I didn't bet the game because if I bet Green Bay, Wow, I don't know how I would recover mentally from a loss like that.
My sympathy is with GB backers, 100 %

"how can u pay refs who work like 3 hours a week on a game and only work 1 day a week and u want to pay them like 100k a year and benefits i mean cmon why don' tthe real refs come down on their demands"
Um the same way they pay players 100x that amount for playing 16 games a year. I'm not saying they are worth it but if you can't figure out how to split $8 BILLION there is more wrong than officiating.

that is the question to a degree. and the market will answer it for the nfl. everyone is still watching. the league is getting more publicity than usual. it's kind of ugly but i bet viewership and advertising stays the same or go up. the nfl will be fine in the long run. from an economic standpoint, it will be fine in the short and long run.
but back to football, since i don't think the regular refs are very good, i think the nfl taking a stand against them is good for the league in the long run so i don't disagree with it.
sure, as a fan i'd love to see games decided by the players rather than incompetent refs, but i get the nfl's position. it's just a bad situation all around.
i should have been in bed 2 hours ago.

Club Dirt I agree that the NFL will not lose any $ with the replacement refs in and as I think all Goodell is interested in is $ nothing will change. One thing I respect about Roger is his willingness to stand firm (regardless of my views on the issue).
