Sac. I watch the Pats just about every week, they go with a heavy Nickel package. They use Harmon and McCourty as the 2 deep safeties and Chung plays at the linebacker level usually matching up on the TE or shallow zone. This is something they've been doing for a couple of years now since Chung came back to New England.
The other thing I forgot to point out, which LC has eluded to, is that the Patriots don't start really playing the season until November in a way. Especially since the CBA a few years back adjusting the training camp and practice rules in regards to contact and days with pads and stuff. Belichick has used the preseason as training camp and the first 4 weeks of the season as preseason in figuring out exactly how he wants his roster to fill out and what roles to put individual players in. A few years back I think he started 5 consecutive weeks of offensive line combinations to see what fit the best before finally sticking to 1 combination before any injuries occurred. The point of what I'm trying to say is that the awful numbers against the Pats defense needs to be broken down in sections and not as a whole when the first few weeks the secondary had major communication issues, blown coverages. In what seemed like 4-5 big plays a game in the first 4 weeks have been reduced to maybe 1-2 a game.
I really don't think Bradys injury is going to be a factor and the fact he was dismissive about it doesn't make me think otherwise, when have they ever gave the media anything? Now I could be wrong because he could possibly be really hurt and no one would know the wiser, but his smile and half laugh when asked if he'll play Sunday followed by a "we'll see" had me feeling like he knows we're way off making a big deal about it.
