This Sunday we celebrate what i like to call America's favorite unofficial holiday. A time when everyone has an opinion and women pick a team based on a uniform color.
When looking at this game, I use different indicators which vary slightly from those which come into play during the regular season.
During regular season, there is an ebb and flow to the season which I try to pay attention to. Teams quality of play never stays the same over the course of a full season. Think of a team as a car and the effort they put out week after week, reflects the amount of gas that they use. A team that plays over their heads can't sustain that level of play without stopping to refuel, which is where a down week happens.
We all see it, we say how could team A ever lose to team B? And then it happens. Underperforming teams step up every week to play competitive ball against a better opponent.
With two weeks off between games, the Super Bowl presents different angles all together.

Keys that I like to use for the big game include...
Teams that are better in the trenches
I'm a big believer in games being won from the inside out.
Teams that can control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball is something that I really pay attention to in these games.
I think from this angle, that San Francisco is head and shoulders above Kansas City in this regard.
Teams that have an edge @ Quarterback
Games can and have been won on the arm and talent of the better leader. Quarterbacks can have a major impact on the outcomes of games such as these.
Using this angle, Kansas City has a major advantage without question.
The Underdog Role
For a team that has made it to the Super Bowl only to be told that they aren't good enough when they get designated as the Underdog, this is taken as a sign of disrespect and often serves to only motivate them.
Since 2002, Underdogs in the Super Bowl have gone 12-5 (70.58%) against the number.
This isn't a game I feel strongly about but when asked for an opinion, I always gravitate back to the 49ers.
I think with two weeks to prepare, the Niners will devise a game plan to take advantage of Kansas City on the ground and the best way to neutralize a potent offense is to keep them on the sidelines for extended periods of time.
This will be my 9th selection posted on Covers since I joined and I am sitting at 7-1 to date.
Nothing to big as of now but I will be siding with...
San Francisco 49ers +1

Great writeup and explanation of regular season vs playoff capping. And great record for the SB. Stay on covers long enough and you might be the heir apparent to Don Juan!

If you don't mind, which SB did this loss come from? My guess is Seahawks/Pats...
Thank you America

I also like the veteran leadership that Richard Sherman brings to that defense. Here is a well respected elder statesman on that defense that will drill into their heads the urgency of the moment. Teams don't get into this position often and he will make sure everyone understands the implications of such a moment.

The two common themes that I hear among casual fans this week are#1 Andy Reid is due#2 Kansas City's offense is unstoppable When public sentiment is that strong one way it is a red flag to me
Due? Never helped Marv Levy or Bud Grant.
Or who coached Elway in Denver and later ATL in super bowls., vs elway. I forget his name but he got rings as a player anyway..

I’ve been following this forum and all the great cappers on here. Can anyone recommend a good safe online bookie. My local bookie is getting out of the business. Thanks.
