Some 10 years ago when I was still an Associate Professor at Innsbruck University - the colleague of mine and a valued friend - Arctic Studies Associate Professor Birgit S. introduced me a Canadian born and at that times a Brooklyn NY resident name of whom I will not disclose for obvious reasons. That very person was one of the Birgit's brilliant students and just came from 6 months at the Arctic circle being a member of the research crew that reported directly to Birgit since the UIBK was funding some 75% of that research costs. The reason she introduced him to me was the idea the bright student had and it had to do with no other than the sports gambling. Birgit knew me well and knew my "hobbies".
We clicked right away and before too long I was intrigued by vast knowledge that young man had. I was especially impressed by his conviction to beat Vegas in Vegas' own tools.
Only years later I understood that the same person I spend few month with in a close friendship of two people having the same goals - was the famous dude who was a full member and one of the founders race horse runner group called Kosher Boys. The talent in fixing the race horses and the millions those dudes made was one of the reasons that very person dedicated the rest of his life to environmental studies outside the US.
When I look at the NFL this late season - I start to suspect the Kosher Boys are back and kicking some butts in NJ casinos. There is no other way to explain the latest trend of the coaches making such ridiculous decisions at the end of the games and getting away with it and even justifying it with nothing else but condescending dismissal of any doubts raised even by some media members.
Buffalo Bills -7.5
Over 46
This season everyone who suffered from the Patriots is taking a shot at them with all they can to shove Belichick's ego which seems to be unprotected in Brady's and Broncs' absence.

Are the Bills playing for anything here? At the moment they’re the 3 seed. Can they finish 2nd?
NO AM, at the moment, Buffalo is #2 seed, though they are tied with Pitts record wise, they beat the Steelers head to head 3 weeks ago so hold the tiebreaker.

Austrian, what an intriguing post...makes one wonder just what is going on in the psychotic world of both the NFL in-game decision making by the coaches and the even sloppier outcome changing calls and non calls by the refs.
I visited Innsbruck twice in my life...what a beautiful city...I remember taking a series of three cable cars to get to the top of Mt. Hafelekar and looking down on the Inn river which seemed from that height to be a slender thread of lime aid deep down in the distance...nothing but a small cafe, black crows, and a Kaiser beer in my hand. And I was young...

I'm from Aldrans originally which is basically the other side of Innsbruck (from the Mt. Hafelekar). I was up there in a restaurant under Mt. Hafelekar last May with friends and the family and there were kids snowboarding from little above of the restaurant - actually from the mountain peak towards the restaurant. In the winter you can snowboard or ski all the way to Seagrube Nordkette. But, off course, the whole area is packed with Ski resorts. The best thing about Innsbruck is being close to northern Italy and being able to drive down to Garda...
Thanks for the memories. I too was young once

You hit the nail on the head. Actually, two nails with one hit.
Great picks. You were lucky to get 46 totals line. And, you are right about Brooklyn Runners being back.

@Austrian interesting story on your end. on my dad's side, all 4 of his grandparents immigrated to the United States in early 1900's from Kaernten(sp). Most peoples' image of Austria is from the sound of Music. My ancestors came because they were escaping from Germany "recruiting" Austrians for their armed forces. Many people here in the USA take their freedom for granted. I agree.....LA Rams have a punchers chance. Curious to hear what your other "slants" are for this weekend as you said La Rams +6.5 was your best pick

I visit the area regularly, i have dealings in the Reutte and Pfronten areas. It's god country out there. I have ties to Salzburg from years and years ago and on occasion I'll just go to Innsbruck when I'm close by because, well it's Innsbruck... I'm hoping to go back in a few years with my son as a second home...
I like the Rams, I like the number and I like the fact GB hasn't played a decent team in a long time. But my slight worry lies in Donalds status. Oh, I know he'll play (being the hockey guy I am; you don't have time to bleed in the playoffs) but will he be 100% effective and will that translate to him being 100% of Aaron Donald. Rib injuries suck and like a fighter, if the offensive line starts with the body shots, it wears a man down...
The line movement is not going to rattle me so I'm a game time decision. Honestly, it doesn't matter who QB's the team, Goff, Wolf-man...
GL!

Rest Plazas in Austria are the best. The food assortment and the views. I think Austria is way more attractive then Switzerland. Especially the Tirol area. The border to North Italy and the view of two sets of mountains while you drive and then the Garda lake view....
Vienna is different. But, the big park where Sisi used to watch her husband from (Shoenberg I think) and then Zalsburg. What a ity that is with those buildings marking the date they were built and glued to the rocks.
And, I didn't even get started talking about Zale em See. And Ski resorts as Kitzbuhel with 24 hour partying on each station down the hill as that is one great illuminated at night place to ski.
Thanks for reminding me all that.
I also think the Rams are the play. GL Austrian and the friends

The Saints -3 line after what they did to the Bucs in their two regular season meetings is way fishy. Too easy for the Saints. I actually thought this would be planned as Brees retirement season but appears to be it is Brady's farewell season.
