Boxing and Horse Racing are two sports that I would not be surprised are fixed on a regular basis.  Because there are so few people that have to be in on it, and the $$$ that can be made relative to what the people involved make playing it straight is a lot more proportional.

Yes, the NFL is already making BILLIONS.  If they were ever found to be involved in fixing games, they would lose all that advertisement money and most of their ratings.  Why would they risk billions, just so some bookies would win?  That's why the bookies rely on winning on vig in the long run.

You guys must of missed the post where I said 50 percent are fixed, 50 percent to screw joe public and 50 percent to screw ppl like me. In the end 100 percent watches the games right? Advertisements! I'm glad u guys think its safe now come on in the waters fine:) btw any one know the unemployment numbers?

Their logic is that the NFL needs to fix the games to keep people entertained, and that's how they made/keep making BILLIONS.  It's false logic.  

I've already tried to explain to them how bookies/casinos make money, and gotten nowhere.  The only response was that they are greedy and want more.

If Vegas and the NFL are in cahoots fixing games, it would be one of the (if not THE) biggest stories in US Sports history.

If 50% of the games are fixed for you, and 50% of the games are fixed against you.  WHY IN THE HELL ARE YOU BETTING ON THE GAMES?  I assume you don't know beforehand which games are fixed and which are not, right?

So basically you are saying that you bet with -110 juice, on a 50/50 shot??

Please, look up steelers chargers final play of the game that took the game away from being 17-10 to final score 11-10. whats the explanation there?

Do you realize the scope of involvement that is needed to pull something like this off?  It is almost unfathomable it's so huge.  And yes, the NFL makes a poop-ton of $$$ from Advertising revenue.  A lot of which they would lose if it ever came to light that game results were predetermined beforehand, and fixed by Vegas and the NFL.  The Nevada Gaming Commission sure would have something to say about that too, but of course, in this thread of complete assumption and factless theory, I guess they are in on it too.

I remember that game because I was on the wrong side of it. But just as easy, how can you explain the obvious wrong call by the back judge on one of the Niners' punt(correct me if I am wrong) last night? The ball CLEARLY went out on 6-yard line but he ruled it touchback. HE WAS THE CLOSEST OFFICAL TO THE BALL!! The ref overruled it but it's just pure stupidity. Had the game be close and the outcome was different, it SURE would be viewed as an OBVIOUS attempt to fix the game. My point is anyone can interpret just about anything AFTER the fact.

You cannot fix a sporting event for gambling purposes.  That is illegal.  That is what is being implied in this thread.

The Steelers won 11-10.  I guess it is all a big conspiracy after all.  Never before has anything bizarre ever happened on the last play of the game, and never before has it affected the point spread.  That is the proof.  End of story.  Great research.  First time the refs ever blew a call.  What was I thinking!!!

IT WAS A FRICKEN LATERAL!!!!!!!!  I NEVER SAID IT WASN'T!??!?

THE REF BLEW THE CALL!!  IT FRICKEN HAPPENS!  ARE YOU NEW HERE (to Earth that is).

Prove that it was a blow call to fix the game??  Anything?  Who was involved?  Who got paid?  Who paid them out?  What other weird plays/calls/etc happened in that game to get that score to 11-10?

I'm not changing your words.  The basis of this thread is that the NFL and Vegas fix public heavy games, and there has not been ONE fact presented at any time in this thread backing that up.

it was reviewed.....

btw i had chargers in that game big in vegas, i almost threw away the ticket.  So im not crying about a pit loss.  but the whole sportsbook. was screaming bloody murder. I know who got paid

Everyone remembers that game, because it did affect the spread, and it was such a bizarre ending.  The fact that we still remember it, and talk about it, is almost proof that it wasn't fixed.  Why, because otherwise there would be endings like that all the time.

If you are so sure it was fixed.  Please, you have to have more proof than "how can you explain it".

Weird things happen all the time in the NFL.  Doesn't in any way prove that anything is fixed.  Crying "fix" is usually just the way a losing gambler copes with things, as they cannot admit that either they are not good at gambling and actually picked a game wrong, or that they probably shouldn't be gambling AT ALL because they are laying their money are games with less than 50-50 edge, and the games are sometimes a toss up.  It's denial.

usc game, a few years back,  well after the game was over. 30min to an hour. they reversed a td that usc made from a block fg.
usc should have won by over a td. but after an hour they changed the score to usc only winning by less than a fg. 

another blown call or just an agenda to not pay the heavy betting public?

I don't remember who I had in that game to be honest. But I do remember where I was when it happened.

Just look at the number of threads on covers anytime something goofy happens in a game where there is money on it.  Always people crying fix, and always people so shocked that anything weird or bizarre ever happens.  It's a product of pouring over stats and trends and conditioning yourself that these games are played in a vacuum where no intangibles or unpredictable things ever happen.

I'm glad you didn't throw your ticket away.  On a side note, I NEVER throw tickets away until I'm 100% sure they're losers.

I remember that one too, vs Utah.


I'm trying to keep the topic on NFL.  I'm not saying that game was fixed or not, and fully admit that it would be easier to fix a college game than an NFL game.  Much easier, but still difficult, considering the repercussions if caught.

As humans, we have selective memory, and perception and reality can be very blurred sometimes.  We are all guilty of that.

kaboons, you seem like a nice guy, and I don't have anything personally against you.  Obviously (as I stated earlier in the week) we have different views on this.

I'm not someone who is naive and going through life with my head in a sack, just assuming everything is on the up and up.  You brought up politics earlier (or referenced unemployment numbers), and if you want to talk FIXES, that's a great place to start and perhaps that is something that we could agree on!

I just think that some people in this thread are completely underestimating the ENORMOUS scope of people and resources that would need to be involved to suggest that the NFL is rigged (with the aid of Vegas) to control the outcome of their games, even if it's not all of them.

it goes both ways, when a game looks fishy, (ppl like me) say fixed
when a game looks legit sf vs rams (ppl like u) say "wheres the fix?? hahah.
Do i believe its fixed? yes
every game? no
if every game was fixed there would be no games to fix... think about it.

I was asking who got paid in that game to throw it.  What players/coaches/refs, etc? Obviously Pitt was favored by >1-7< and was probably a public person, I get that.

it was a td. they reviewed it. Idk why it was clear as water

refs put headphones on, we dont know who talks to them.

and they came out and say call is reversed no td. some1 in charge called it the invisible hand. 

to reverse a call u need conclusive visible evidence.
 no clue why it was under view in the 1st place it was lateraled 5 yards back .

its not going to be handed to u what the truth is, u need to think and question it.  and if u find ur conclusion rt good for u. but dont just say "y wod they rigg it? no way makes no sense"

look at big bens face as well. after the td
