We have 1 thing to be excited about.  This guy is going to be awesome.  4th round draft pick out of The U.

Explosive.  Starting out as the 3rd RB.  But you know Bush can't stay healthy, and Daniel Thomas can't either.  Thomas pisses me off too.

I'm telling you Lamar Miller is the real deal.  Look for him on Hard Knocks.  He's going to get his chance early in the season.

Just wish we had a WR that can get open downfield.

As a Dolphins fan, I'm much more excited to see Chad Johnson than anything. I think he still has some greatness in him. Some athletes need to feel like they have something to prove to be great. I feel Johnson is one of these guys. I'm also more excited to see Sean Smith and Vontae Davis play and hopefully play upto their potential. 

Lamar Miller will be restricted to mostly 3rd downs, so I expect him to have an impact on the passing game if anything. I think that Daniel Thomas will be the guy who has the biggest year from the Fins backfield. You say that he pisses you off, but he is only in his 2nd year and was injured a lot last year.

I'm just excited to see this team play in general. Their receiving core could suprise some people. Johnson, Nanee, Hartline and Bess won't blow you alway on paper, but all have 75 catch potential.

Great slot receiver. If only the 'phins can get the ball to him more often, he can be like the Wes Welker on the team. Also a solid returner too.

@Earth...  I am real down on the Dolphins this year man.  No Peyton.  Nobody wants to play for this front office.  I'm excited for hard knocks.  But it was a bad decision for them to be on this year.  Maybe they will suprise me.  Hell, if they beat Houston, I will go ape shit.  But I'm also a big Miami Hurricanes fan.  And Lamar Miller is so fucking good, it's sick.  We will see what happens.   I'm glad you're excited to see them play.  It gives me hope.  I think we are looking at 6-10.

They started out 0-7 last year. So to me, only positive things can come from this whole hard knocks experiment.

As for being excited to see this team play, I really am. They are above average at defensive line, pretty solid at linebacker and corners, but pretty young and inexperienced at safety. The weakest part of their defense last year was their secondary, which should be improved with new secondary coach and addition of Richard Marshall from Carolina.

Obviously they biggest concern is their quarterback, but atleast they have made an attempt to improve. I was a big Henne guy, and pretty sure I want Garrard to be the starter week 1. Matt Moore was pretty impressive though. He threw for 16 TD's and 9 int, not bad considering he started with 0 td's and 3 picks in his first start of the season against the Jets last year (24-6 loss) I think Garrard gives them the best chance to do something special this year. (by special I mean finding a way to sneak into a wildcard.) It could blow up in their face, but again atleast they have a 1st round draft pick at QB who has potential. 

Other than the big elephant in the room at quarterback, their offense is pretty solid. Big fan of their backs, I talked about their WR and their O-line only improved drafting Jonathan Martin out of Stanford in the 2nd round. 

As for their schedule, I expect them to lose to Houston but its possible they are 3-3 when their bye comes (oak,jets,cards,st louis) are all very beatable. Gun to my head I would say the Dolphins go 7-9 this year, but would not be shocked in the least if they went 9-7 or 5-11. It will all depend on turnovers, run game and winning close games.

Picking up Garrard instead of Manning or Flynn is as bad a move as a team can make.Trading Marshall and picking up Ocho Johnson is almost as bad.I'm not sure if that was the owners fault or the GM.The Dolphins were looking pretty good by the end of last season but took a big step backward this offseason.8-8 would be a miracle,but miracles can happen.

1. I cant take anyone that would say that seriously.

2. The year they "won" the division Brady was out with an injury for the year and they had to go to a FOURTH TIE BREAKER because NE was also 11-5!

Bro I have no axe to grind with the Dolphins. From a NEUTRAL perspective their season will be meaningless. They have been a good under bet from time to time and that should continue. Chad Johnson is finished Reggie Bush is garbage and they have no QB. The TWO years that Garrard played a FULL 16 games in Jax his rating was 81.7 and 83.5 the Jags were a dismal 12-20 and get this 9-23 VS THE SPREAD!!!!!But you always have Matt Mooreand an OVERRATED rookie thats never played a pro down and a 4th round pick that might be their best bet at RB!!! Good luck with that.

Hope Moore starts at QB.  Never liked Tannehill.

The Dolphins wanted Manning and Flynn.  But they didn't want to play there.  Nobody does.  The front office is a mess.

Dolphins have a promising D, actually a great D, but its a shame they don't have the offense to keep them in games, or win them for that matter. The QB situation is a mess, the WR core is just as messy IMO. No threats, or at least no proven threats. Chad Johnson is a good WR, couldnt grasp the Pats offense so he struggled but I expect(or secretly hope for) him to do a lot better in this offense.

You gotta think though, if they diddn't do great with marshall, how can they do better with johnson...

Needless to say, Im riding the texans -6.5 spread in week 1... But i don't consider this game a lock, i see the hidden potential in this team.

75 catches is a little unrealistic, or appears to be.

- Johnson averages a total of 63.83 receptions a year (12 years pro, being active on average of 13.83 games a year, starting an average of 11.25 games a year)
- Nanee averages 21.4 receptions a year (5 years pro, being active on average of 13.8 games a year, starting an average of 4 games a year)
- Hartline averages 36.33 receptions a year (3 years pro, being active on average of 14.67 games a year, starting an average of 7.67 games a year)
- Bess averages 65 receptions a year (4 years pro, being active on average of 16 games a year, starting an average of 5 games a year)

All 4 WR's mentioned average 46.6 receptions a year. The only two receivers who actually stand a chance at getting over 75 receptions are Johnson and Bess. Only downside is Bess is coming off his worst season in regards to receptions and rec yards, while Johnson himself has not had a season over 75 receptions since 2007(I won't mention his last season since I don't think it illustrates his skills as a player).

Can any player on the Dolphins get 75 receptions? Yes, its possible. Is it likely for all four receivers to get over 75? No, it's not. Maybe one, possibly two, and definitely not 3 or 4.

I would say Bess can get 75 receptions this year that's it.

I completely agree. I think Hartline/Nanee will get their average amount of receptions, Chad Johnson should get around 55 receptions or so, and Bess could get over 75 for sure. Interested to see how this will turn out..

Just read on espn the Dolphins had Braylon Edwards in for a look.He had 15 receptions last year for the 49ers. Good talent has been nothing but a bust in the NFL.

I can see it now.... Edwards and Johnson 80 receptions, 1000+ rec yards each, 8+ TD's each for the dolphins to get a wild card spot and shock the NFL world... or not.

I think Johnson had 15 receptions last year as well, would a be a good story if Edwards went to the dolphins and the duo tore shit up...

Obviously a guy like Brian Hartline is only going to have 30-40 catches a year when you get limited opportunities as a 3rd receiver.

If you know anything about the Dolphins is that in the last 3-4 years they run nothing but 2 receiver sets with Dan Henning as O-cord. Last year Philbin tried to open it but still used a lot of run formations. Philbin will run MUCH more spread offenses this year.

The word potential means if they play upto their full ability. All 3 guys minus Nanee could, and I could see him maxing out at around 55. Do I think all 4 guys will catch 75 balls, ofcourse not but any of those 4 guys could.

Brian Hartline has made numerous underated or breakout lists. I've seem him make a lot of unbelievable catches.

You also averaged out each receivers avg catches per season. Obviously CJ's numbers will be down with his time in New England

Yes, that's correct. Patriots had better weapons the CJ. Yes he struggled with the offense but if he was still in his prime Belichick would have figured out plays to get the most out of him. CJ dropped some easy passes which unfortunately limited his future looks/receptions. Thus, having such career low numbers. Yes he can achieve 70+ receptions, but I won't be shocked if he doesn't get above 60.

Thank you for explaining the definition of potential. It's greatly appreciated and needed. Since you took the time to explain that to me, I'll take the time to give you a informative lesson as well. You seem to be contradicting yourself, or at least backing down from your previous post. This in my opinion shows lack of preparation and information. I just happened to notice your kind on contradicting yourself. I was putting the numbers up to show that in my opinion, there is no possible way the 4 WR's you mentioned all have enough potential to catch 75 balls this year. If you said something like, one of these four, or something along those lines I would agree with you. But you didn't. Instead you said "Their receiving core could suprise some people. Johnson, Nanee, Hartline and Bess won't blow you alway on paper, but all have 75 catch potential. " (Minor spelling error's in that, but I won't focus on that).

Perhaps I misread your post. But to me it seemed as if you were trying to put me down, or insult me, for giving you a detailed answer on why I thought it wasn't going to happen, or at least show you the previous numbers in case you were not aware. The deffinition thing at the start was cute, but not needed and immature. Learn to post an educated opinion, and if you can't do that at the very least stick to what you originally said, or learn to defend it better when some one brings up informative, valid points.

I know reading comprehension is difficult, but try and stick with me.

When I say all four of those guys have 75 catch potential, you think I'm trying to say that I think all guys will catch 75 balls. No shit all four guys can't catch 75 balls in a season, has that ever even happened in NFL history?

I'm trying to say that any of those guys have the POTENTIAL to lead the team in receiving and catch 75+ passes. The more I think about it, the less I realize I know about Nanee because he is new to the team. Thats why I changed my mind and said I think he would max out at about 55-60. I know that Johnson is new to the team too, but I know much more about his work ethic and abilities.

Please show me where I was putting you down for giving me a detailed answer. I was simply pointing out it is kind of skewed to show guys average catches per year when they were previously backups, and now getting the chance for a lot of reps.

I also wasn't attacking you by defining the word potential. I was trying to stress the point that if these guys have simply decent years they will not catch 75 passes. They need to play to the best of their ability. (Which I have seen Hartline due under the radar with limited chances.)
