A few things jump out here:
Whether you cap games taking the public money into account or not, this game is an eye opener. Game opened at a PK and in some spots you are seeing 3 now. Public money is piling up on the Lions and I can understand why but this is looking a lot like the Bills/Jets game on Thursday nite. Public got beat down bad! The public did very well this weekend though so is this the game where the books take it back? Prime time game, back up qb......packers underdogs off a bye? I agree that Rodgers is a 5-7 point factor especially in a home division game just because of what he brings but what gives with this line?
Detroit has lost 3 in a row and Stafford stinks in Green Bay. Yet this is overpowered by a backup qb off a bye? I'm not so sure. Morgan Burnett is back, o line for GB is healthy, a running game may be alive in GB and again, the Packers had 2 weeks to prepare for the Lions. On the flip side:
Detroit needs this win probably more than GB even though both teams need it bad. Stafford can't win in Lambeau so if he can't win tonite, is it every gonna happen again in his career? See this is what is stopping me from going big on GB. I like Detroit and think they are just as good as as any team in the division. Yes....I do. They showed signs early in the year of being able to run the ball and Stafford, like Rodgers can do a lot with his legs and arm. Losers of 3 in a row, you'd have to think that Detroit is foaming at the mouth knowing they have an opportunity of getting right back into the division mix. Rodgers will be back imo and when he is, they are right there in the mix. At 4-3, a win here really sets them up well.....
Lastly, Detroit in the red zone has stunk. Do you think they know that though from last week. Probably! But it all starts with the run game imo for BOTH teams. If Green Bay wants to win tonite it's simple. Use that o line and get Hundley in 3rd and short. From there, Hundley could surprise. If your Detroit, attack, attack, attack. Spread them out. Like the Eagles did to the Broncos, score early and often putting the game on the lesser qbs arm. The value for me may be the first half with the Packers. If they can't come out quick and establish the run, getting an early lead, Detroit probably runs away with it. Long post I know but interesting game tonite. ANY THOUGHTS? Good luck all.
