So are you expecting us to track the coin's record? Is there any particular reason you didn't post the record, after creating this thread and getting people interested in the experiment?
Not at all, just realized the tally didn't get posted. Will do so now.

And why do you think a coin flip would yield anything better than 50 per cent in the long run (e.g. season)?
I'm not a statistician, however the experiment is really to see how the coin vs. my own (or your own) picks do in the long run. As I originally posted, the "experts" typically only win 50-60% over the life of the season and they spend hours\days toiling over research, trends, inside info, etc. etc. So we'll see....

This is kind of insulting to anyone who actually puts effort into their picks, bad or good. It's also insulting to anyone with a brain and/or a 4th grade education.
Exactly what results are you expecting?

this is absurd, but interesting to see what the results are going to be, personally, I would like to see the coin go undefeated; if only for a week, that would be fascinating to say the least.....

Well bk, if you've read any of my posts you'd see we are just looking for a comparison. We're expecting it to show how much your time and effort are worth. Much like the experiments they do with monkeys picking stocks against the "experts". Sometimes they outperform the professionals, and other times they prove, well, that they're monkeys.
I'm NOT an expert. In my amateur experience, I have listened to the experts and done my own research and analysis. There are seasons where I'm a genius and people should be so lucky to know my picks. And then there's seasons (like last year) where I'm a bumbling fool and have no business even watching football let alone bet on it.
So if this is a complete waste of your time, feel free to move on. If you'd like to show your prowess, go ahead and post your picks for every game on Thursday and see how you do against the coin.

My thought exactly SN! What if the coin goes on a "hot streak"? Haha, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be tempted to follow its lead for a while.

I can save you the time of flipping and posting and tell you that as long as there is reasonable efficiency in the betting market, which there usually is given the amount of $ and betters involved,

...it most certainly will return you with 50% wins minus the juice. And if it doesn't, it's purely luck by definition here! As for effort spent by capping to win just 60 per cent max, I'm totally in agreement with you there. Betting is all about luck and heightened entertainment; anybody who thinks otherwise is deluded and will be rewarded for that ignorance in the long run.

Thursday night's picks are in! Tonight the coin calls for the under and dog to cover. Best of luck to all. If early history is an indication, the under is the play....according to the coin.
