You can handicap Xs and Os, but everything else is just guess work.
I respectfully disagree with this statement. "guess work" for Xs and Os is no different than "guess work" capping the weather. One may be easier to quantify than the other. You knew ahead of time there was going to be a snow storm in Philly. Snow and winds create volatility in the kicking game. Extreme colds the same.
Texans are second to last in terms of "hidden points" dvoa efficiency metric in Special Teams. This refers to , like the opponent's kickoff distance, punt distance, and field goal attempts, essentially giving them a "hidden" points benefit on the field due to these external elements.
Just one example of a quantifiable metric one can use to assist in their capping. There is no "one size fits all" method.
