I always preach on here about being a specialist and not a generalist. In other words, own one small slice of the sports gambling pie rather than trying to be a little bit knowledgeable in all of it.
So that being said, this is one area that I don't participate in, and my method actually against doing something like this. What I mean by that is that I make my decisions week to week and situation to situation, much more than I do with empirical season long or even weak to week power rankings. Within a given game or situation, I look at subsets of that game or gameplay to determine who I wager on, not an overall power ranking.
An example of that is that in a given week the Ravens could beat the best team, and lose to the worst team in a power ranking. The key to me is identifying which situation and subset of gameplay favors which team, not the overall high-level power ranking. So I never make power rankings, it's just something that is not on my radar.
Not to say that it's a bad thing to do or disparaging people who do it, just saying it's not what I do. Curious to see your power rankings and how this works out in this cool tool that unabated offers.

Looking forward to week1!
I know you base a lot on adjusted stats during the season - how do you formulate your picks for week 1? Last years numbers? Offseason changes? Combination of those things? Thanks as always Van

What secondary ramifications do you think the new kickoff rules will have? More 2 point conversion attempts? More going for it on 4th down in negative territory? What do you think it will add to the mean totals over the year? Will we regularly see totals around 60? The league has wanted more scoring and they've tried to limit the defenses as much as possible....giving the offense an extra 15-20 yards to start each drive seems generous....
