he took the +13.5 points not for them to win straight up?? It's possibly Larry fitz last game. You'd be silly to think they won't be giving him maximum effort to send him off the right way

LC.....I think you are smart to get on Giants now as I see this making it to -7 by Saturday.  Cowboys have ABSOLUTELY nothing to gain by winning this game and these 2 teams do not like each other, so you can expect the Giants to go all out to win this game. 

The Cowboys only focus will be on getting out of the Meadow-lands and back to Dallas to prepare for next weeks game.

Yea I know, but I feel like it hinges on Seahawks not doing their best the entire game. Maybe they don't and LC is spot on here. I just said it's a bold play. 

Didn't think of the Larry Fitzgerald thing. He should stay imo, screw having this disaster season be your last year. I wouldn't retire.

I never got this argument. People said the same about the Raiders about a month ago too. Losing only benefits the Cardinals front office and executives. Again, how does losing benefit the players on the field playing for new contracts, or the coach on the sidelines playing for his job? Do tell

Hmm maybe you're right that they don't see it the same way, but from my perspective I'd absolutely want to lose the game to aid the rebuilding process after such a crap season. There's no longer an opportunity to turn their season around. Oakland last week had a strong motive to win as it probably was their last moment to shine in the black hole. 

But even if we ignore this aspect I think in Seattle to cover the spread the Cardinals are largely reliant on Seahawks not playing their hardest throughout the entire game. They're very strong at home and the defense shouldn't have much issue shutting down the Arizona offense. 

Did you choose Cardinals because you expect the Seahawks to take their foot off the gas or potentially rest starters when they know they'll win?

There's no evidence teams tank. 

Raiders were the ultimate tanking team coz Gruden was trading the best players, but then they won games.

Zona then had no. pick, bang they won and did you see how they celebrated after ? Like they just won the SB. INTERESTING FOR A TEAM TRYING FOR THE NO. 1 PICK.

Then 9ers had the no. 1 pick and they won and then still in contention they won 2 in a row.

Where oh where does anybody find EVIDENCE that teams tank ?
 
This stuff happens pretty much every year.


Last monday I was down at the local book just opened in casino for the first time  2 hours before game Broncos VS Raiders, listening to a few guys standing next to me they all said how they loved Broncos coz Raiders were tanking to get a better pick in draft.

This stuff gets thrown out there by media, don 't buy it. All that is, a supposed expert trying to sound like a expert with no evidence to back it up.



The draft is not any certainty that 1st pick will be better then the 3rd the  5 or 6th or 10 pick, it is risk either way.

I don't think you read what you write.  Have you ever played...or known a professional athlete?  The front office isn't on the field - and if they EVER suggested the "T" word to a coach, they would get put through a wall.  It's one thing to have a "developmental strategy" a la the Sixers for a year or more.  But for ONE GAME??  No, there is no "icing" on the cake angle.  Players either play hard or don't.  Do you really think they care about an upcoming draft?  The only thing they care about is winning, each other, and that their checks are good.  Hilarious.

Well said...professional athletes play hard and play to win...if they don't play well it isn't because they are tanking, could be a number of reasons but tanking I never bought that.

Again, it really doesn't matter. If I'm betting on the Seahawks it's NOT because I think Cardinals are going to tank. I never bet against someone because I think a team is going to tank.

I'm just saying it's not so outlandish to think a team might tank. If I were them I'd absolutely want to because I want a better team next year.

Also I never even claimed that the Cardinals are actually going to tank, but the fact that a loss would help them in the draft is indeed in the back of my mind.

As Claw also said, the difference in picks isn't that huge. Now, if you had a consensus no. 1 QB in the draft, and you were a team that just had to have that guy, then obviously the team might have some incentive to get him. But, you know, how many no. 1 QBs have been busts, and how many times have the Browns (for example) managed to not land a franchise QB?

If you really know what you're doing, a higher draft pick can matter a lot. Your argument hinges on incompetence in seeing real talent.
