Not knocking RG3 but...

Question

I think what he did today was a little selfish. Yes he did a "warrior" thing but I think he hurt his team much more than help his team. Dude was in so much pain and listening to his interview upsets me a little. He could barely WALK. He was limping while running. How did that give you the best chance to win? He could have got hit on that knee and his career could have ended right there. I love RG3 but what he did today was pretty selfish.

completely agree. fb is a team sport. he wanted to play hero and made a cspable qb stand on the sidelines. guarantee cousins would not have posted a qbr of 5 like rg3 after the second scoring drive

Exactly. I thought that was EXTREMELY arrogant of RG3 to say he was the best option on Sunday. He was at 40%. He is the best option at 80%! But on Sunday he was pretty much worthless

this was not the first time rg3 showed his arrogance. post game intervirw for clevrland he said he felt like he should have played and was upset about the decision. starting to seem like a selfish player after this debacle imo

Players will never take themselves out of a game if arent hurt beyond  complete functional impairment... its not on the player to take himself out... rg3 was in pain, but still functional enough in his mind to go out there and perform... thats what makes these guys who they are, the belief that they can always make plays... it wasnt on him to take himself out for underperforming, it was on both shanahan to observe him playing and/or the training/medical staffs to do strength/mobilty testing to make a decision to get him out of there

Disagree - every great player wants to play & especially a rookie at home who was basically the reason they were there in the 1st place. Shanahan should have gotten him out of there after the 1st possession of the 2nd half at the latest. Probably shouldn't have played the 2nd half at all, but maybe you test the leg for 1 series. Could've easily ended up with a serious knee injury that coulda put him out all of next year & for what when he couldn't do what makes him special anyhow & Sea knew it. Sad & stupid both...

Of course, he was going to say he was good to play. If you say you can't go, then you end up getting crucified for being a sissy. People wouldve told him to man the F up and leave it all on the field. People would have questioned whether or not he wasnt playing 100% at the risk of a career ending injury because he was a rook. The player is in a no-win situation here. Thats why it was up to the coach to pull him out. The coach has to take one for the team and protect the player from himself.

And NO, RG3, you are NOT the best option when you are limping around on 1 leg. Mark Sanchez would have done a better job....maybe

He&#x27;s a competitor and he was risking his career being out there. Shanahan should had pulled him out because it&#x27;s his decision.

Sometimes a player can&#x27;t win. IF he pulls himself out and they lose people will question his toughness IF he stays in and they lose he&#x27;s a selfish player. Bottom line he played hurt and risked his career for the better of the team.  RG3 has my respect both as a person and a player. Its easy to question things after the fact.

It&#x27;s Shanahan&#x27;s fault. He&#x27;s the coach and gets paid 7 million a year. Amazingly, he passed the buck and blamed RG3. But it&#x27;s RG3&#x27;s fault too partially for being a dumbass. 2 years ago, Cutler took himself out of a playoff game with a partial ligament tear and was lambasted. It wasn&#x27;t till months later that the media and other people apologized, but he still gets crap for it. Part of that is his attitude. Still, he thought of his team first and is way smarter than RG3.SMK, you really think Cousins is going to do worse than 4 for 12 for 28 yards in 3 quarters of work? RG3 with a bum leg did worse than Joe Webb.

First of all, its pretty obvious RG3 "is" the franchise. The coach has power over everyone, but if you lose your franchise player, you might as well look for another job. Who knew what happened? From the postgame quotes, you can tell that was RG3's decision to stay in the game. HE did come off as arrogant and YES, he lost the game for them. It was selfish on his part because football is a team game. And when you are playing the most important position ad you are not performing the way you are supposed to, then you are losing the game for not only yourself, but for everyone else on the team. Bottom line, RG3 lost the game for Washington.

There was zero chance RG3 had to worry about getting Alex Smith'd....thats just silly. RG3 is young. He just wasn't thinking long-term and he tried to play hero-ball on 1 leg.
