The Saints went out of their way not only to not cover but to lose outright, which they were fortunate not to do.

Not even 6 SECONDS into the game and Brees throws an INT.

Right there you have to worry for the next 60 minutes whether you’ll cover...

Look to dogs first in the playoffs and then pick the right dog. It is SO much easier watching the game with a sizeable spread in your back pocket.

Not to bad I'm in the whole for almost 17k..been on one of the worst losing streaks in years...since early December I been losing week after week...cant stop now cause I know I'm going to heat up...slowing down on my parlays..I missed about 8 to 10 of them by 1 game or a few points last 3 weeks or so...big payouts at that..

I know most people here don't like it when I say this, but I'm going to say it again. Gamble for entertainment, not as a "job" or a way to get rich. I realize that entertainment has a different price for everyone, but my typical wager is 1/10,000th of my net worth, but I still enjoy the "entertainment" it provides. Winning a bet is equivalent to taking my girl out for a nice dinner. Keep it in perspective so you don't end up losing so much that you feel so terrible. There are some on this site placing $3,000 wagers and some even more. Unless they are in the 0.25% of the population that actually makes money gambling, then there are certainly more profitable ways to invest their money.

Some words of advice.....STOP playing parlays trying to hit the big payout. Stick to single game wagering.

Yeah, most people don't realize that for every game they add to a parlay the juice magnifies by another 10%. The odds on parlays are the worst odds you can get. The true odds on a 4 team parlay, assuming line wagering, is (1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2) a whopping 16 to 1 but your book is probably paying you 11 to 1, 12 to 1 at BEST if you gamble with a reduced vig shop. 

THOSE ARE HORRIBLE INVESTMENTS!

In fairness you probably thought you had lost anyway after the first quarter so it was just a ball-tickle that you had a shot anyway.

I see people say all the time that they are "reducing their risk" by parlaying two (or more) things together to get to even money (or higher) and that's such flawed logic.  Any game/bet you add to your wager increases risk, regardless of the payout and people don't get it.

The math doesn't lie! Parlays are horrible wagering choices as not even the reduced vig shops will give you reduced vig on parlays. They are bankroll eaters.

Agree with everything that's been said in here.  I do it as recreation as well, and the bills get paid first.  If there's something left over, I'll place a wager.

The parlay thing I'm conflicted on.  Long term, absolutely right.  Thing is, why it's so hard is, when I turned my $150 deposit into over $10,000, it was mostly because of parlays.

I'd take the Sixers live @ +800, down 7 points early in the 4th quarter, and parlay it with the Thunder live @ +300 down 5 midway through the 4th.  Put something like $200 I'm them for a payout of something like $2,200, and was hitting a couple a week at least.  Even if I was hitting 1 out of 5, I was still coming out WAY ahead.  Just looking for big favorites playing at home or against inferior teams, teams that were -500 before the game starts to +800 and still within 6-8 points of taking the lead.

It worked for 2 months, made a killing, now I'm cold, so I slow down.  Smaller wagers until I build up my bank roll, than just keep increasing my wagers if they keep hitting, that's all
