My brother and I each bought OLG Point Spread tickets for 12 game parlays this week, and made a bet that whoever has more losers in the parlay should buy the other a ticket for the rest of this football season. Here are the picks. This week, we decided to do 12 teams to settle who buys who (and in the spirit of "you never know"), and for the following weeks, we will probably do less number of games. We will see
Myself 1. ARI @ MIN -6.5 2. DAL -3 @ CAR 3. NO @ TB +3.5 4. GB @ STL +6.5 5. WSH +6.5 @ NYG 6. BAL @ HOU -6.5 7. TEN +3.5 @ BUF 8. CLE +3 @ IND 9. 10. JAC @ OAK -4.5 11. PIT @ CIN +3 12. SEA @ SF -7.5
My brother 1. ARI +6.5 @ MIN 2. DAL -3 @ CAR 3. NO -3.5 @ TB 4. GB @ STL +6.5 5. WSH +6.5 @ NYG 6. BAL +6.5 @ HOU 7. TEN @ BUF -3.5 8. CLE @ IND -3 9. NYJ +10.5 @ NE 10. JAC @ OAK -4.5 11. 12. DET @ CHI -5.5 13. SEA +7.5 @ SF
This is just for fun, $20 each, which is about my lunch + coffee money, no harm.

I admit I make $20 or $30 small bullshit parlays a week just for kicks though
Yea, a lot of people hate Proline. In fact, this is my first time trying proline in my life. I have used an online book (Pinnacle only) my entire betting life, and this is literally just for fun.

I question DAL -3. I believe all teams coming off a bye this year have covered. Losing Murray is a huge. Felix jones should not be a feature back. WR's can't catch the ball. Also think that the line has moved to -1. Probably pretty demoralized after that finish last week
And maybe STL. STL has scored 7 TD's all year. GB starting to get their groove going. Don't think I'd treat this as a let down spot for GB.
GL though...these parlays are fun.

Wow. I met bet proline this week. There lines are a lot better than online
CAR +3
TB+3.5
CLE +3
STL +6.5
Interesting.
Yea, once lines are out, proline spreads never move (I believe?). I believe some games show 1.5-2 point movement in online books compared to these lines.

Here are my favorites this week. * means favored by public and the rest are not
Thanks a lot for you input. I hate to go against Manning, but this was just a gut feeling that Washington might keep the game close. It is more like "there is always a game or two that fuck up the parlay, and it is usually the one you thought was easy. Let me try to be smart and go opposite" type of thing. If I am to make a single bet on the game, I think I would go with the Giants.
I was not so sure of Dallas @ Carolina. Proline offered -3 on Dallas, and I thought a FG might be doable. If it was -3.5, I would have probably had a second thought. I just took a chance on Dallas not losing three in a row in favour of Carolina ending their losing streak this week. But it seems like lines in online books move in favour of Carolina. Oh well.

you may get a bit better spreads on proline, but that doesn't mean you're getting better "odds". You pay so much juice on pro line you could still do adjusted lines on an online book and still get a better payout.
I used to play proline quite a bit. Not so much now.

Some good responses in this thread.
I'll try to give one...
ProLine (OLG) used to release their point spread lines on Wednesday and they would be stagnant or locked-in until they released their final lines on Friday; which would stay the same until kick-off Sunday.
Not anymore. Now (this season) they release the spreads daily and don't even print the numbers on their Friday sheets anymore. Although, the lines are typically the same Wed/Thurs, Fri/Sat, and on Sunday they'll usually have a few last minute adjustments. So if you see a good number on Friday you can no longer assume it will be the same on Sunday, or even Saturday for that matter.
They're not inflating their numbers as much any more and I think this new idea of them re-releasing the numbers every day is to help them keep up with line movement. More importantly I think all of this and what I explained above is in preparation to their eventual shift on-line.
They're starting to act more like a normal book, but I think when they do move on-line in however many years it will be a ridiculous combination of a real book incorporating a lot of what we have now from OLG.
Interesting to see this all evolve. I'm wondering what effects the current turmoil in the Legislature will have on the OLG's long-term strategy of bringing in on-line gaming, or even those whispers of single-game wagering...
Good luck.

This is true. The odds on any OLG point spread is always 1.78 which equates to -128. So even if the OLG has for example Carolina at -3 and online has Carolina -4.5, you can simply buy the points and have the same, if not better odds. Simply put, unless you find massive edges, there are no other advantages of pro line. I play 1 per week on NFL Sunday's for fun, while Pinny is my main shop. The juice on ML plays is 50 cents, and props is 60 cents. Absolutely disgusting. Then, to top it off, for football and basketball they have 3 way lines, in football if you want to play a team to win they must win by 4 or more, and basketball is 6 or more I believe. It's highway robbery. Anyone who plays to win real money is at Pinnacle. The OLG understands this, and that is why Vegas has come to Toronto looking to build a big casino resort. Once that gets passed, single game wagering will soon follow.

Well said, and considering myself as a value bettor, I completely agree. Yes, 12 game parlay pays x1000, so that is about -128 per game. Juice on proline is just crazy, and especially having been using Pinnacle odds my entire betting life, I cannot believe how juicy proline is. I did not even check the payouts until I bought the ticket because this litereally was just for fun. Why would one go for proline to make money when he has used Pinnacle for years? When I made post #4 in this thread, I actually meant in a negative way. Sure, Pinnacle does not allow buying/selling points in parlays, but it does not concern me much because I rarely do parlays anyway. One of my coworkers mentioned proline a couple of days ago at work, and so I just told my brother about it and tried it out to see what it is about. The bottom line is, there is no way in hell one can make $ in the long run from proline.
I believe you are also located in Canada? Do you use any other book other than Pinnacle? I very rarely do parlays, and 99% of the time I only do single bets (teasers, I might once in a while), so I have never thought of switching to or trying any other books. I guess what I am asking is if there is any benefit of having multiple books when you have one that offers the best odds. I hardly see better odds on other books for any sports.
