ive been sportsbetting over 20 years. not very analytical compared to most of yall, but basic stats, bankroll mgmt, and mostly my feel for picks has gotten me very far. i’ve lived most of my life in california, and i’ve taken home extra 50K-70K a year on sports gambling when i bet in vegas but now retired and remarried with 3rd at age 59. very tough to go to vegas and bet now that i live in georgia with closest casino being in north carolina so i have opened online books and havent been doing too well. i bet more games... been losing an average 5-8K a year. the loss is okay, i have more than enough to live my habit and have hefty inheritance saved for my kids, but something about online sportsbetting feels so off! i dont know of it is the digital balance but im more reckless. just saying. how many of you really profit online sportsbetting?

If you were betting less games go back to what you were originally doing and play less. Whether you bet with a local, in Vegas, or online it’s all the same. Still gotta pay the juice. The more you bet, the more you lose. It’s like that for everyone. We’re no different. I was up and down early in the NFL season. Something didn’t feel right. I wasn’t identifying teams like I thought I could. Came back when I thought was the right time and boom. I’m on an 11-5 run with most my larger wagers hitting. Sometimes it’s good to take a break as well.

Been doing it for 15 years and I learned you have to be very patient to make profit. Pick your spots..Stay away from NFL first five weeks then start picking spots...I could go 2 weeks and not play a game. In fact, I posted patriots ML game of the year this year and won 1300 and I didn’t play nfl for awhile. That’s 1300 profit going into holidays that helped out expenses. You have to be able to watch as a fan and not get the urge for action.

I agree with others. Less games the better. Juice accumulates quickly. I’m not a fan of how they move the vigs more opposed to the lines. I miss the good ol days when it was always just 10%.

Online betting is a completely different animal. You can literally make a bet in a matter of seconds. The old school method of getting cash, driving to the book, parking, walking to the window and handing over your cash forces you to think more about your bets, and usually results in fewer wagers. My advice - make fewer bets. Pick and choose your spots. Don't log in until you have a plan and know exactly which wagers you want to make. If necessary, write them down prior to logging in. Then, stick to your plan. A profitable bettor understands they will make far more from the bets they don't make, compared to the ones they do.

If most people profited off it, they wouldn't offer it.
Same with parlays, teasers etc. People love parlays they dream of these big hits that rarely come off, they love teasers as they look easy.
The books are based on people being addicted to action. So if you offer them action 24/7 on anything and everything, they'll play a lot more and increase their chances of falling to the house edge.
Grinding out a good percentage of similar size flat bets is the best way to be profitable. Most bettors don't have the discipline to do that. Those that do, are only gonna hurt the bookie if they A) are playing big money and B) can pick winners more often than not.
And even then it matters little to the bookie. All the degens losing more than covers for those few disciplined winners. And of course, if someone is winning too much, they just ban or limit them.
A few years ago a horse trainer name Charles Byrnes put together 'a coup'. He had talented horses in training but made sure they never looked any good in their races. One day he put them all into winnable races and they all won at big prices.
He had given word of the coup to a few people including my uncle who has a piece of one of his horses. They started collapsong the odds late on as the bets poured in but it was too late.
My uncle won 30k, I dont bet heavy on horses and am always wary of 'tips' as they usually dont win. But I did hit an accumulator for 1.5k and the flat bets won me about another 600.
Now I can't put on a bet for more than 50 cent on horses on that online account.
