First time seeing this thread so I decided to join the cool kids. Loving the saint's/niners under. Caperdick is playing bad n they simply are not throwing the ball much anymore. Saint's ran very good last week and more than usual. See both teams running early and playing some field position style football in the first half setting up play action for the second half vs a tiring defense. Saints are playing better right now but this is almost a must win game for the ninners and they will go to the well which is Frank Gore often. No clue what the final score is nor do I care as long as it's under 49.

In terms of that MJ story, you are running all of past rumors. MJ wasn't blackballed out of anything, the man practically ran the league himself. Also lets not forget that it was a crime, stories like that actually do come out even that long ago. It was investigated with no actual link at all to his gambling, simply just a rumor because of how much gambling Michael did at the time and the "randomness" of it. Also it was a big conspiracy because during an interview Jordan said maybe in 5 years if David Stern lets me back. Which could have really meant a number of things....First off Jordan left because partly he was tired and needed a break from basketball especially his emotional state from his fathers death and the olympics and finals the year before...Also I mean people could have just been targeting Michaels father for any reason, maybe they just hated Michael or maybe just maybe it was random. On top of it, Michael wasn't leaving the league unless Michael wanted to. I've read many books, stories and blogs about Michael and the incident, the truth is he associated the death with how he used to play baseball and his father pushed him to play baseball. He thought he had dominated the sport at its max and wanted to try and do the same at baseball. In the end, marketing wise, it did end up being even better for the league because of his "comeback". But also what people forget is that baseball went on strike in 94 when michael made the decision to comeback... Michael did things the way Michael wanted. Let's put it this way lets imagine how much Lebron James is hated for one single act of switching a jersey and city....and compare that with all the love Jordan has gotten throughout the world despite at times and on atleast two different occasions punching two different teammates "that were reported, though it was probably more", ask that Doug Collins get fired as coach even as a young cocky player....completely embarrassHorace Grant every chance he got...(Basically because Grant came for Charles Oakley, who happened to be Jordans best friend on the team at the time...Jordan always has kept a strange inner circle of friends..)...Jordan never traveling with the team, always with his own friends.... Jordan leaving the team to go gamble, even during the playoffs....and in the Finals in the morning of Game 2 in Atlantic City....Despite is validity yes even the story about his fathers death, mixed with him leaving the game in the publics eyes completely out of left field..My point is that Jordan did things "his way all the time." You think David Stern would take the risk of losing Michael Jordan, not knowing if he ever would come back, with all he was doing for the league....and..I mean can you imagine in this day and age if Lebron went and gambled in the morning of one of his finals games, the media would completely have a field day.....don't get me wrong, the media and hte public eye didn't love that Jordan did gamble by any means, but it wasn't drawn out, rather forgotten quickly.....Don't get me wrong I love Jordan and Lebron isn't my favorite player but I do have enough respect to say that Lebron is the most dominant player in the league easily and there are things he can do that he is better at then Jordan....Just as there is plenty things that Jordan could do better..Jordan had....biggest of all his competitive fire, better defender, and best of all better under pressure then any player in history....With Lebron he was always built as a team player, better rebounder, and better player efficiency and fg percentage....and Lets face it off the court has Lebron really had one issue ever outside of switching teams...and hes been followed his whole life by media....In a heartbeat I would take Jordan over Lebron on my team....But considering both personalities and problems off the court mixed with on the court....It kills me how the media and fans treat Lebron....How many players have you ever seen take less money to win championships....He cant help that the only thing Cleveland would give him was an old as dirt injured Shaq and too old Antwan Jamison....He never exactly had Scottie Pippen, Phil Jackson and the triangle offense.......I do love how mad Jordan always gets when he talks about Lebron....It's that competitive fire in Jordan, you can just tell he would give anything to get back on that court to show who is the better player....One things for sure forget the Kobe to Michael comparison...the Lebron to Jordan comparison....There will only ever be one Michael Jordan, the best player ever to play the game period. Undoubtedly the best player under pressure ever.
Sorry kind of got caught up writing lol

The $20 a game was a joke but even $3000 a match isn't necessarily enough to keep a guy clean. And isn't there a huge pool of refs?
Just saying US refs have a good salary and pension whereas the international ref doesn't know where it's coming from next.
I totally agree that international footballers are on the take and that soccer is fixed and if there were a US sport for games to have a chance to be fixed its the NBA.
I just don't see it in the NFL and overall a very rare occurrence in the US in all sports and not commonplace as it is internationally.

can't agree with your first paragraph. i will elaborate. first of all the athletes do not agree to participate in "fixing" for money. that is rare. it usually happens in two different ways. if the fixing party are the "wiseguys" - it is through blackmailing and threats and is usually done through the player's agent. if the "fixing" is through the league and league interests - business - it is done through the refs, coaches and franchise players. best example from recent time of an obvious (very rare) to the public eye was the sa game last season in miami. sa was shorthanded after pop sent all his star players back home and the league even "punished" him for that by a fine. sa was a covering machine in those times and it seemed like an obvious "no cover" situation when the line shut up from miami -5.5 to -12. more than three quarters of the bettors and money was of course on miami covering from -5.5 to -12. the whole spectrum. miami was dominating the whole game almost only to win by 5 points at the end. sa covered again and the public got screwed big.league players, coaches and refs as well and can direct them to do anything . ones among the players that have a task to collaborate are usually the franchise players who will miss here and there and couple free throws when needed. last timeouts are usually the coaches opportunity to influence the play and call the play which will be unfruitful if needed etc.
in soccer to fix a game -
See, this I can get behind. I can see refs influencing a game for "business purposes" I'm still skeptical whether any players would be involved but if it's only a franchise type player working with the refs it's possible.
So I just wanna apologize for my insulting words before. I thought you meant that almost ALL games were totally per-determined and that all the players were collectively in on the charade. WWF and what you're now suggesting are 2 totally different things.
But I was just pissy that day cause I was in the midst of a BRUTAL stretch. Still shouldn't have clogged up yer thread with my nonsense phix. My appologies man.
