The Falcons are not a very good team. The Saints are a very good team. There is no doubt about either of those two statements. Having said that, when it comes to division, rivalry games, records seldom matter. Last Sunday, the Falcons played an extremely tight, conservative game against the Cowboys, in a game they tried not lose. Over and over again, the Falcons settled for FGs, punts and conservative play calls, relying on their defense of all things, to win the game. In fact, the Falcons offense did not get going, or did not let loose, until they were down by DD. Only then did they play like they had nothing to lose, driving downfield with relative ease and scoring. All this to say, in a must win type game, with their backs against the wall, average teams like the Falcons usually don’t perform well.
With their season essentially over, the Falcons now travel to NO to play in their last meaningful game. Meaningful in that the national spotlight will be on them for probably the last time this season. This is the Falcons SB and, lucky for them, they play a familiar foe, on a short week no less, that is coming off two of its biggest wins of the season. Not only did the Saints demolish a team with SB talent and expectations, in the Rams, but they also demolished last year’s SB team, the Eagles. With all that behind them, and riding the highest of highs, the Saints now face a wounded and beaten division rival, with nothing to lose, in a redemption type game for the Falcons and a letdown spot for the home team. I expect the Falcons to come out with guns blazing in this game and take the kinds of chances they didn’t take against the Cowboys. And if the Falcons can jump on NO early, and keep their noses ahead, this game just might come down to the wire. With the last seven games between these teams having been decided by 10 points or less, +13 for the dirty birds is the play here.
Good Luck

This is not the Saints of the past...anything else is ancient history and does not apply to this team at this point of THIS season...
You are witnessing greatness...don't mistake it for "normal variance" that you see with other teams from game to game...
Divisional...Deschizimal...Geewhizamil...
Means nothing to this Saints team...they will destroy this bad Falcons team without prejudice...
The Saints name their score in this game...and they have made it clear that they will take no prisoners...4th quarter...up 20+...they will score some more and continue to put pressure on just like the first quarter...
The Falcons season is over...and the Saints will put an exclamation point on it Thursday night...
And for anyone who bets on them and their 13 points...well...you should have learned when the smashed the Eagles...
Fool me once...shame on you...
Fool me twice....
You know the rest...
PM for the skinny on the down low

Terrific write-up, BB. You always have a unique take on the games, which I appreciate. I wish more posters had your ability to dissect the NFL. Unfortunately, as you know, most sports bettors let their emotions dictate their bets rather than their intellect. The number of NPCs on this particular forum are legion. Good call. I think you've got a winner. And Happy Thanksgiving.

Hey Doc, thanks for stopping by. I meant to congratulate you on the Raiders pick. Excellent job. Your angle made sense, but I was skeptical that Gruden would actually throw his players a bone and sacrifice that #1 pick (as he had shown no signs of doing so). And yet, that is exactly what he did. Funny enough, Carr cam out today and said he does not give a bleep about the draft and, in fact, would love nothing better than to screw the organization (as far as draft positioning goes). LOL.

The line is a bit inflated of course but the Saints have won 9 straight games and have covered their last 8 games so that is to be expected..Interesting game because the Saints largest number I believe they have been asked to cover during this 8 game ATS run has been around 7 and now they are laying 13 to a Division rival.. Good points BB by pointing out the Falcons should have won last week vs Dallas as well because they did outgain them in average play per game 6.4 to the Cowboys 5.1 yards and the Falcons had a success rate of 56 percent to the Cowboys 48 percent... Vegas is clearly tired of the Saints covering every game so I can see a play on the Falcons here ... Good Luck BB

I wanted some action today so I teased the Saint game to over 53 with Da Bears under 49 the Falcons know they need 35- 40 to have a prayer and Da Bears are going to play GREAT DEFENSE as usual and run 35 times with Howard because without Trubisky that’s the plan so. Saints over 53 and Bears under 49 $240-200 should be a good play BOL

Thanks for posting and love the pick. Ever since Mr Bator, I always fade teams after back to back blowouts. Interesting that the spread hasn’t gone up when I’m sure the public is all over the Saints

The Falcons season is not over. With Panthers 2 game skid and tough schedule they’re only 2 games back if final WC while 4 teams in front (Seattle/Carolina - GB/Minn) face off this week. So with a win they move right into the thick of the race for the 6 seed. This is essentially their season right here. If they lose they’re 100% done.

It's useless to try and convince some, my friend...
For the same reason we have close elections in the USA....
Common sense is just not that common anymore...
Falls under the category of "Strange, but true..."...
I like reading what you have to say but why are you so relentless going into other peoples threads to sway them from taking their bet? You’ve got a good thread to do it in
No team is as good as it looks when winning nor are they as bad as they look when losing

13 is a bunch of points in an NFL game. A divisional game, no less. I still say it's Saints or no play. They are just the better team. I will be staying away, though I do have Saints -7 1H in a parlay. BOL, BB.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

Call me crazy but I hate seeing people lose their hard earned money making bad decisions...
And Covers is a place where people can express their opinions regarding sports betting..in any thread they want...
We want to beat the books...if your skin is so thin you can't take some discussion about your wager, Covers might not be the place for you...
Sports betting might not be the thing for you either...
I invite anyone at any time to say anything they want in my thread...

Anyone follow this rivalry? It’s always down to the end. What shocked me is that the falcon over the team team total is only 23.5. I bet a big chunk on the over eagles 23.5 team total last week and went down in flames. This game is starting to smell like the eagle game to me. Traditionally the teams split the series and it’s always within a touchdown. Atlanta fans travel well. Looking like the saints have to win out to get home field as the Rams will probably win out. If the Saints are willing to let prized rookie Marcus Davenport play (he’s active) that tells me they are willing to put it on the line tonight. I’m going to wait till game time for the line to drop a bit more hopefully and play contrarian. Saints and Under. Happy Thanksgiving and good luck everyone.
