Hey Nevadabookmaker I really appreciate the advice. I think it's time for a new hobby. You guys all know what I am thinking. 5 grand on yankees tomorrow but we all know that is not normal bc once I am broke I am really gonna be crying. I have at least a little cushion to quit and keep learning my programming profession

In all honesty - I am going to give it to you straight up because nobody else will here....
You are not cut out for this.
I can tell with your responses. You gamble for a rush and the emotional parts of it. Winners do not do this.
Now, you can either quit - or you can take the good advice given of making it work in your life. You have done neither - and will continue to suffer until you do.

Find another hobby if it's hurting you! Not worth it. I'll quit if that ever happens to me. Takes balls to completely quit!!!!

Thanks dude I do appreciate your response. Your absolutely right I get way to emotional and I am horrible at say putting 2 grand in my betting account. Instead of betting 50 a game or 100 a game I will bet 500 and then get mad when I'm broke

Could you fade yourself? You may have figured out how to cap the losers. That is just as effective as capping winners. Just do the opposite of your intended bet.

@budwiser
Ya thanks. I keep praying that I will find my calling. I'm older now and still trying to find what I want to do. Like I told you guys I'm trying to be a programmer now but who knows what tomorrow holds anymore. I wanted to be a pro sports bettor but that doesn't seem likely anymore

frankthebank blows. or what i remember from last year.
if you can't take a loss mentally or financially, yeah, you're not cut out for gambling.
win or lose, you have to move on and quickly.

Find a system that will help you win *small* This would mean if you keep on betting with good discipline will you most likely make money if you keep on grinding.
Can you find that system? A system that you can plus/minus $100-$500 weekly only where there are more winning weeks?
For you right now, it is not about winning. It is about "not losing" is winning.
Good luck.

only..and only..when you're not losing, pick it up a notch.
and NEVER go in the hole with $.

Literally just stop while you’re ahead because you will never make that money back. Or if you continue to best just bet want you can afford to lose which in your case is dollars and cents

All the years I've been on here, I'd say there's less than 20 that win consistently, and we all know they also go on cold streaks from time to time. Some of those guys aren't on here anymore, and have moved on. Not many left.

Hey man, don't be so hard on yourself. I think a lot of us have been there before, including me. I spent many years betting money I could not afford to lose, and chasing the late afternoon games and Sunday night game to catch up. Then I would wake up sick to my stomach on Monday, go to work, and chase the Monday night game to get even with the book. Almost every time, I just dug a deeper hole. If you want the honest truth, I just stopped betting money I could not afford to lose, and without the expectation I could win a huge score every week. Instead I bet because I enjoy it and enjoy watching the games, and only an amount I can afford to lose. Now I don't sweat every game like it's life and death, and wake up without the guilt and anxiety on Monday morning of how I am going to win it all back. Very, very few people can make a living at this, and I am not one of them myself. I am sorry for your losses, and wish you all the best. Best advice I can give is to step back for a few weeks, and set a limit for yourself each week. Easier said than done, I know, but I promise you will benefit in the long run. Also, stay away from the booze when placing your bets, used to nail me every time. Good luck brother, tomorrow is another day.

This may not be the place to ask..but..I went through some things turned my life around..by shutting out all emotions, putting my head down and doing the work - however the improvement came with a void - which I succumbed to i let my gas off the pedal..I’m > 25 yrs old so I’m thinking maybe it comes with age , but there’s people my age that can keep it going consistently..internalizing their objectives etc .. obviously not going to find the answer here but - maybe typing this out will put me back in the right direction..unfournately that means quitting gambling for me and maybe therapy ..

We all have bad beats, it’s part of the game. It’s why majority of people will blow their bankroll a couple times before they get the hang of it. I stick to flat units, and I hedge a lot. It helps and slow and steady wins the race. Focus on your strengths and stick to them. Find your niche. Analysis is key here. Find where your losing and don’t repeat the same mistakes.
