yea but let's face it, the odds of smith fumbling a snap are never going to be zero.  my point was what was least likely to occur.  a fumbled snap or two onside recoveries sandwiched by a td.   i'm just  surprised you're calling to the 'right' thing to do.  i was on the niners so a loss is a loss, but harbaugh being a cowboy and doing the unconventional thing and taking the ball instead of the 2 possession lead just wasn't the best thing he could've done.

Last year on Monday night against the Chiefs. Lost the game and missed the playoffs by one game. Only Norv and Ms. Phylis.

I'm not sure if that fuck-up actually influenced the outcome of the game. Were the Chargers killing the clock anyway? If they were around midfield, probably it just didn't matter (since obviously the game went to OT)

But yes, it actually is possible to drop a pass like this, so the math is probably a little different than what I thought 30 minutes ago...

We are probably splitting hairs here, because both options are almost sure wins and the difference in negligible.

I can tell you that I would have done what he did, and it crossed my mind even before it was announced to decline.  I kept thinking "was it a first down"?

If he took the safety, I dont think it would have been the "wrong" decision either - just think this was a little more right.

Yes, KC recovered and then won the game.  Technically it wasn't a kneel down though as they were running a play so your NEVER IN HISTORY could be right, but I doubt it.

I dont know why he was going to hand it off - other than Norv was involved - but clearly that was a running play.

yea.  well it is what it is.  van, you need to start posting some EPL plays.  i love betting soccer but don't really know how to cap it, only to fade arsenal...

I go back to my oriignal statement - THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A FUMBLE ON A KNEELDOWN IN NFL HISTORY.

vanzack....unless you just started watching NFL this year.......Philip Rivers fumbled a snap last year vs the Chiefs trying to center it for his placekicker for a game winning FG.  Virtually the same thing IMHO.

I read what you wrote..... you tube the game and look at the situation and listen to Gruden commentating the play before the snap.  It s hard to tell exactly what Rivers was trying to do but we ll never know because butterfingers fumbled the snap.  Tie game on the 15 yard line on the right hashKC had no timeouts left one minute left..  you center the ball.
