you lose
Should have been a hold on the Ravens and the follow thru on Burrows head shot to give them another opportunity. Not to say that they would have got the two point conversion if they had a second chance I am just saying that they should have had another opportunity.

Don’t understand the going for two there. I understand that in overtime you may never see the ball, but the game never may have gotten there. Just seems like putting the entire game (and Cincys season) was worth gambling on one play. Not to mention, the lack of creativity on that play was bad. Why not just run it up the middle if you’re going to be that lame?

The thing that gets me is why go for a 50/50 chance on making it and when you don't it's over when you could win the coin toss and win with a touchdown and if you lose the coin toss then do your best to hold them to a field goal and get the ball back and tie with a field goal of your own or a touchdown and win.
By going for your 50/50 shot and NOT making it you have totally eliminated all of the above mentioned scenarios and you lost the game just the same at that missed opportunity. I would opt for taking my chances in overtime but that's my opinion.

I agree. I didn’t read my post before submitting but what I meant to say was that gambling your whole season on one play was not the right move

It is pretty interesting that we get this situation after Monday nights game being faced with the same scenario. Everyone was roasting Bowles for not going for it and to some degree I can see why. Fast forward to tonight and we get to see them go for it and it failed. (3 penalties on that play that didn’t get called. I guess it’s like the Hail Mary play. Refs close their eyes and anything goes but that’s a different story) So what is the better route to go?
There was enough time for LJ to get them to fg range for a kick but Tucker already missed a point after and isn’t as automatic this year. Personally I think you go for the tie and hope for OT.
Maybe it’s just a case of pick your poison.

It's all about these young buck coaches decision and the analytics era Just stick to what's been working for decades. Battle it out in OVERTIME

I’m not understanding the comments on this. Why go for 2 when the Ravens have 2 timeouts left? So why kick the extra point then? I swear people don’t think before pressing send.

@Zman55
Which is irrelevant having two timeouts and 40 seconds because with that missed 50/50 missed gamble noone really knows how it would of played out.
Maybe LJ would of thrown an interception or maybe fumbled the ball on a sack.
Bottom line you gave up all options and scenarios and what may or may not of happened by being on the wrong side of that 50/50 gamble.
Should of took the point after and gave your team a chance at one or two of the above mentioned scenarios.

not to mention the young buck going for it on 4th down and not letting his excellent kicker put points on the board. Baltimore had already missed an extra point. If Cincy had kicked that’s a 4 point advantage on special teams. Can’t leave points on the field if you’re in a must win game

kicking the PAT at least gives you a chance to take the game to overtime and still win. The extra point for that kicker is probably over 90% while the two point try is around 50%. If you don’t convert the two point try the game ends right there on that play. As justliketoplay said, there are tons of scenarios to win the game after the XP. Zero winning scenarios if you miss the 2pt.
