i think they did the right thing and went for the 95% chance on an extra point instead of a crap shoot 50/50
@ArtSchlichterJr
Just like your chance on the coin toss in overtime which is 50/50 but at least the playbook can be opened up for more options when the flip is decided whether your on offense or defense which I feel is a much better option then a one and done in regulation if you don't succeed.

The extra point for that kicker is probably over 90% while the two point try is around 50%. If you don’t convert the two point try the game ends right there on that play. As justliketoplay said, there are tons of scenarios to win the game after the XP. Zero winning scenarios if you miss the 2pt. Well not quite zero... Onside kick left... 2 of 27 this year not good odds but not zero...
True. But getting the onside, marching into fg range with no timeouts, and making a most likely long kick is a way lower chance of success than kicking xp and playing for ot.

you are 100 percent correct. Now if your record is 1-8, then sure go for it, but their record is 4-5 and they need wins to have any chance of maybe getting to the playoffs. Kick the xp and play for ot. Anything can happen in ot. Cincy was playing pretty good. No reason for coach to gamble season probably away now on 1 play.

The going for two to steal one only shows that cinn is waving the white flag if goes to ot. Had it the other way around, Baltimore will not go for two. -6.5 favorite shows their strength going into this ball game.
What I'm curious is this. Had it was in cinn home turf, would they still go for two? I think they'll go to OT to give their fans that extra inning to their money's worth for them tickets.

to me it's dehumanizing to put probabilities on football scenarios. I don't look at a 2 pt conversion as 50/50 each instance is it's separate unique occurrence and you have to go out an execute. those so called past probabilities have nothing to do with the present state of things and are based on hundreds, thousands of past instances with past teams. well those teams playing the game don't have a hundred chances they have 8 or 9 drives a game or 1 shot at a play such as a 2 pt conversion and there is too much at stake to base your decision on something that happened in the past with other teams.

I think it was the right call at the time that didn't pan out. Both defenses were getting soft as tissue paper late in the game. I'd rather have the game decided with the ball in Burrow's hands than lose the OT toss, and watch from sidelines as Lamar and O walk down the field.

No one knows how the game and whom would of marched down the field in overtime to of won this game.
And by NOT taking a chance to open up a playbook in overtime whether you win the coin toss in overtime or not which is also 50/50 and then let's say you won the coin toss you open up your offensive playbook and if you lose the coin toss you then open up your defensive playbook and try to hold to a field goal so you have the chance of tieing the game or winning the game in overtime.
By going for two in regulation and NOT making it or even coming close for that matter you have now eliminated any and all chances of winning the game period.
I would of went for the point after and took my chances of upcoming scenarios instead of NO chance at all by failing the attempt.....which they did.....Game Over!
