Suicide pool picks

Will try to keep this going throughout the season ...

For now just post your best picks for week 1 and maybe share a little of your strategy/mindset going in. 

For me I’ll be in a local pool just 20/player... so nothing crazy but I did win it 2 years ago by myself and came out with 7800. 

I personally like to pick some of the bad teams out of the gate and hope to keep my options open for later on ...

For some reason it also makes me feel good to get the pick out of the way at the 1:00pm games but that’s not always possible.

I have been eyeing the eagles for week 1 but I have not made a final selection 

Also Carolina panthers interests me  

I’m in a points league and looking at Ravens and Broncos 

Ravens has been lights out for me the first game getting me @ 30 points the first week the past 3 years. Hoping they can do it again.

Broncos is another team I’m leaning towards. I think Teddy will do great and the defense will have a good day against the Giants O line

 Play these every year, get about halfway through and then the big upset, without fail. But we try again. I now pay more attention to the upcoming weeks, like playing chess, need my next 2 or 3 moves/games.

Carolina is a smart pick, if you don't see them now, the only time you'd use them is late in the season hosting Atl.

Rams are also smart.  You might want them week 7 vs Detroit, but you can take Arizona vs Houston that week

If you really want to gamble, take Houston or Jax.

jags - texans trainwreck so worth the chance and its 1300 entrants and 5 split the pot at end of year even with double picks from week 13 on. But 20 players no need to risk it. Look at survivor grid to help

Using Carolina. There won't be a better spot to take them all year. You'll be glad you saved good teams later.

 Perhaps but there are 32 teams and I only need 17 of them. Sam Darnold is starting against the one team that knows everything about him. And I like Zach Wilson he's got a lot of upside, at some point in time he'll be a top tier QB. But I hear you Panthers are 5 pt favs' and at home.

Leaning Panthers but my one concern is the Jets DL vs Panthers OL

Panthers for me as well.  Unusual week 1 where there isn't a digit digit favourite so might be spread out.  I think the Niners will smash the Lions too but that should be the top owned team of the week which I usually try to avoid.

Panthers have much better pieces on O, both defences aren't good, Jets receivers banged up, and it's a revenge game for Darnold against his old team.  If he has a good game in him it's week 1.

I think you have a good idea with the ravens though. They have always started well in previous years if I remember correctly.

That's my pick this week ...In a big bar one $100 entry , rebuy until week 5...

Might as well use the Panthers in a very winnable spot ...Save the others for later

Looking into Washington to beat the giants for my week 2 pick.

CAN HEINICKE GET IT DONE?

The giants have not had a winning record at anytime in the season since 2016... I don’t see that changing anytime soon. 

Any thoughts on heinicke? I know he played part of that game against the chargers after magic went out..

Giants fan here and I expect WFT to win easily and own the trenches, but the short line scares me a bit, and it's a divisional game on a Thursday.  WFT should be favoured by 5.5 at least in my opinion.  Usually 2 types of games I like to avoid and they are both in play here.  I think it's the week to play it "safe" after using Panthers week 1.  I'm rolling with Browns or Bucs, likely the Browns since not a divisional game and they cannot afford to go down 0-2.

 I went Panthers. Made 5 points. The top spots have 20 as they took Rams then a couple with Broncos and SF. Glad I stayed away from Ravens. I’m looking at Pats for the 2nd week over the Jets. I don’t think they will let the QB go down. Will look at other games tonight and check back tomorrow. Need my pick in early
