47-37-4, +11U (4-4 playoff record, down a some juice...effin Arizona)
Welp, was totally expecting a different result last week with AZ...but on top of one of the biggest choke sessions of all time and Palmers finger truly being an issue, Carolina IMO got every single break they could have dreamed up.
I also failed to take my own advice from just 2 weeks ago when I faded AZ regarding how strong their defense was: "Some recently reported injures have me iffy on AZ now. GB looked
pretty bad the last 2 weeks, but that included a L to a Vikings squad
with 110% max effort and relatively healthy roster of playnakers. AZ is
going to be minus the Honey Badger (Matheiu) and now starting LB Okafor
and D lineman Babin. Thats 3 tiers of defense that will be downgraded
and replaced by a journey man who only started 2 games for the Ravens
and also a guy from the practice squad. I think the AZ offense can win a
shoot out, but we're essentially asking them to win by 10 points to Win
ATS." - Thats me quoting me...why I thought they would perform better against a stronger running attack and defense is besides me. I guess that's what happens when I get a week to over think things
DEN+6, 3U's (no max play this game, and no max plays made at all this season; but this matches my largest bet on any 1 game this year)

“Denver shut down the run this
season despite six games vs. teams that finished in the top 10 in the
league in rushing yards per attempt, with Carolina sitting as the 11th
ranked team in that measure. The Panthers were one of the least
productive passing teams in the NFL, gaining less than 226 yards per
game in the air and Denver’s plan will be to force Cam Newton to make plays in the air rather than finding success in the running game.” - ...CAR is a paper champion in my opinion; still owning the 27th ranked SOS. They have never been under as much pressure as this will in this game, literally and figuratively. They own an insane turnover ratio which has masked their poor offenses production and led to so much scoring.
The Denver 3-4 is the perfect foil IMO to the offense that is built around Cam Newton. I quoted Bruce Irvin a few weeks back when he said the SEA gameplan was to take away the run and let Cam's over zealous cannon of an arm try to make miracles happen in short windows. That never developed for SEA, they gave up a long rushing TD (on the slippery turf, I'm still on that BS ) to start the game, and then gave Newton great field position twice before halftime. In the 2nd half, with CAR actually trying to put the final nail in the coffin SEA (with some major players lost to injury on D in the 1st half) came roaring back and their Defense totally shut Cam Newton down.
I noticed in the AZ game that after the Cards went down by 2 scores early, the players started blowing up at each other and totally lost their cool. Too many times coverage broke down and tackles were missed, they lost their heart. I do not see this happening to Denver, they are the BEST defense this year as a total unit. They can rush 7 all game and their corners will be more than enough to take away any options for Newton. I dont care what anyone has to say, NE is still the best team in the history of the NFL at exploiting weaknesses and last week nothing they planned on offense unfolded as Ware and Company rose to the occasion.

Also, I cannot stress that this week is the PERFECT scenario for Manning as far as a matchup for one single game. His 2 star receivers can get separation against this banged up Panthers secondary; and Owen Daniels is a great option over the middle.
His offensive line has had 2 weeks to prepare for the CAR front 7, and they will be aggressive in setting the pace. With the focus being on the run game early, I believe that after a few 3 and 4 yard runs Peyton will be able to get his play action going and convert a lot of 1st downs with mid range passes.
There's not much else to say, if the D breaks down mentally and the offensive line for Denver gets overpowered by the CAR front 7 this game is over for Bronco's backers. If it turns out CAR is not as good as their record indicates, and they cannot respond to adversity we've got this game in the bag.
GL ALL! See ya next year!
