I really am not sure I understand the majority of you guys. This is just a terrible spot for the Steelers and I am not saying they have no chance to cover but I do feel they are not a solid play for many reasons.
1) They have nothing to play for. They are pretty much locked into the two seed needing a miracle NE loss to get the one seed after last week. Someone will want to argue this point but it is mute and you are kind of stupid if you think the Steelers think the Cardinals can really beat the Pats.
2) They have been through a totally brutal stretch. Tomlin is my favorite inspirational coach and he has had them play some amazing football against some really quality teams over the last month. You cannot whip them every week and they simply may need a break before the playoffs.
3) They have lost their two best players and one may never walk again. That is just more chit on top of two above.
4) They traditionally play down to bad teams on the road and are horrendous over the last couple of years as near double digit or double digit road favorites.
I know, I know, the Texans totally suck. Yes, they do. I will not argue it and TJ Yates will never be mistaken for YA Title but the Texans do have something to play for and pssssst let me let you in on a little secret ( teams usually play pretty well after get totally blownout the week before)
66% of you will play the Steelers and ignore this post. You guys may even win but over time, plays like this will lead you to the poor house.
Crash
Oh, one last thing. The line has reversed into the Steelers despite the majoritiy of the public being on them, so there may be some sharp money on the Texans. Just maybe.
Take the Texans or pass the game, the Steelers just look to be a reach here.

All that write-up and you don't realize Pitt needs to win to make sure they don't fall behind the Jags for the #2 seed? Lose and Pitt may end up the #3 seed!

The Steelers would clinch a first-round bye with a win over the Texans
on Monday. The only way the Steelers would have to play wild-card
weekend is if they lose in Houston, then drop another game to the Browns
in Week 17, and the Jaguars defeat the Titans. The AFC's No. 1 seed
remains open, if the Steelers finish 2-0 and the Patriots lose to the
Jets. ...from espn

Just a matter of figuring out which game Pitt wants to lay down for. I would think winning in their home crowd and not give the Brownies the satisfaction of their 1st win at Heinz is the way to go..
Sip on that plus money honey!

What is Houston's motivation for the game? Are they trying to win? As notorious as Pitt is for playing down to their competition, they should still win here, but its anyone's guess if it's by 1 on a last second fg or 35 in a romp. Maybe bet them 1st quarter because if they dont win that, you will have quite a bit better line on them ingame

Thanks for the write up. One thing to point out is that Houston is decimated with injuries right now. In addition, I have trouble putting my money on TJ Yates. Yikes!

I agree with everything you said but Pittsburgh will be up for this game and Houston is going with a 3rd string quarterback. Look for Pittsburgh defense to go nuts today against Houston, they literally might not even score and I think Pittsburgh will just handle them easily. I agree its a tough spot but Pittsburgh is just too good, 11-3, and Houston is down to nothing.

Tough to have any faith in TJ Yates but 9-10 points with the home underdog is tough to ignore as well. Agree with the sentiment that this is a Texans or pass spot. But i think i'm going to pass. Texans are a absolute gong show right now and the Steelers tend to play down to their competition. Could see the Steelers winning by 7-10 points and this being a sweat job for everybody betting it on either side.
Best of Luck!

I am looking for any reason to take the Texans today and I can't find one. If anyone other than Yates was at QB I wouldn't hesitate to take Houston but he is awful. I can't back him and I won't lay 9 in this game so it is a no play for me.

Trusting Yates is scary, but even with that said I'm on Houston. Pitt is 6-1 on the road this year, but only 1 win was by double digits (Balt). 4 of those wins against non-playoff teams by 5 points or less and a loss to another (Chi). Got to take a chance on Houston.

28-20 or even a little more. 35-17 is possible. Just don't see an angle taking a team playing that bad against a team that definitely wants to win today and can make mincemeat out of Houston. There's just nothing appealing about Houston right now. Which is probably why they will win, but I can't back it.

Pittsburgh is 1-5 ats their last 6 weeks. That's a more important stat to focus on than the Jacksonville blowout last week. Let's not forget about the return of Joe Haden. Check out pitt stats with vs without him this season ??Pitt -8.5, Pitt ML

That said, I do not think the Jets scare the Patriots right now but maybe they should a little?

The Steelers only have to win one more game for the two seed, I think they look ahead to the Clowns next week at home and punt this one, just my two cents.
The Texans are playing their final home game of the year. I think this is kind of their playoff game to beat the Steelers, just my two cents and it is debatable. They could totally mail it in.
FYI TJ Yates was 5-0 ATS until he lost last week.
On 5 Dimes Texans are plus 10 -125 ML 350
Bungles are plus 10 -120 but ML 400
There would seem to be some more ML action on the Texans for some odd reason.
Steelers last three weeks AFC North opponent Bengals ( in what was one of the hardest hitting games I have ever seen)
The Ravens (say no more, they kill each other every time they play)
Then the heart wrenching loss to the Patriots which was all out.
Now they have to travel to Houston and get up for the lowly Texans on Christmas Day, sure they can.

Ok that's not a good comparison. The Bungholes are +10 +400ml because they are on the road playing a team who desperately needs to win. Houston is at home against a team that may or may not need it so their line should be shorter, maybe even +300, l still can't see Texans winning but hope they keep it close-ish with my 6pt tease Pitt -2.5 / Texans +14.5
