Two most underrated teams in the league (based off perception and stats):
Saints lost in overtime to the Falcons in week 1, lost by 2 to the Browns, and lost by 1 to the Lions where they were up by 13 late in the 4Q on the road. All 3 of those games could have gone either way. There only loss that wasn't decided in the final seconds was to the Cowboys in what was a huge revenge game after last season’s record setting win. The Saints can easily be 6-1 right now with 4 of the next 5 games at home and 2 of them being on primetime (we all know how well the Saints play on primetime).
In my eyes, the Redskins are the 2nd most underrated team (based on value) in the league. Yes there crap blah blah but take a look at there numbers. Despite losing there starting QB early in the season, and despite facing the Eagles, Giants, Seahawks, and Cardinals in a 4 game stretch – there outgaining there opponents by an average of 67.5 yards per game on the season. That’s 3rd best in the league behind only the Colts and the Broncos.
Why are they only 2-5 SU and 2-5 ATS this year then? Main reason comes down to turnovers. Redskins are dead last in the league in turnover margin at -9. They had a chance to not only cover, but win in Arizona two weeks ago until they committed 4 costly turnovers in the fourth. The redskins are better than they seem, and can put some wins together if they start taking care of the ball. The game Monday night will heavily come down to the Redskins offensive line. If they can’t block, the newly proclaimed QB will have an awful game, but if they can keep him clean in the pocket – there’s no reason why he can’t shred this overrated Cowboys defense with the help of Alfred Morris facing the 31rst rush defense in the NFL.
The Cowboys will once again establish Demarco Murray, but the Redskins are atleast somewhat decent against the rush. They’re tied for 8th in the league in defensive YPC, despite facing Arian Foster, LeSean McCoy + Darren Sproles, Marshawn Lynch, and Andre Ellington. They definitely won’t shut down the Cowboys rushing attack, but at least they can limit Murray from going off.
Dallas just completed a 4 game stretch beating a Saints team in a huge revenge game, beating in-state rival Texans, winning a huge game in Seattle, and beating divisional rival Giants at home. Now they are large favorites against a Washington team desperate for a win. I said the game would mostly come down to whether or not Washington’s Oline can keep McCoy clean in the pocket.. well Dallas is 30th in the league in Sacks. Through 7 games, they have a total of just 6 sacks. Only the Raiders and Rams are worse.
My money is on the Saints and Redskins ML. GL
