TNF: Chargers@Raiders
Leaning Chargers getting five points here and might just lock it in today. The Raiders have been successful at the beginning of the season because Derek Carr had excellent protection and was airing it out at will. Since C Rodney Hudson is out, Carr was 66/124 53% and got sacked 10 times for a loss of 81 yards which equals 4.9 NYPPA in their L3 games. This is an abdysmal number and they have been scoring just 18.3 PPG over that span. Chargers' OL is getting healthy. If King Dunlap progresses this week, Rivers will have time in the pocket and pick the Raiders' secondary apart. They scored 3 points apiece against DEN & KC but they had a terrible matchup against those front sevens. It's a different story against the Raiders. On the other side the SD defense played extremely well in their L3, allowing 10, 10 & 14 offensive points along with a garbage time TD against the Dolphins. Matchup and current form points towards the Chargers who should win this game straight up.
MNF: Bengals@Broncos
I love the Bengals in this spot. They have the best recipe against a strong Broncos pass rush: an elite OL. I like McCarron and I give him the edge as a game manager behind a great OL rather than Osweiler behind an average OL against an improved Bengals' pass rush in 2015. I don't believe in Osweiler and he just cannot close games. Over his career he averages 71% completions during the first half and just 51% during the second. In their L2, the Broncos scored ZERO points in the second halves. It seems like teams can adjust to his play very well. Tyler Eifert might be back as well as George Iloka. Eifert gives McCarron a huge advantage for short to intermediate throws which can be very important against the Broncos' pass rush. The Bengals defense should really be enough to contain Osweiler. Some people will say "McCarron needed turnovers to score at San Francisco" - let's be honest here. I don't know what it is but the Niners have held teams to 15.8 PPG before the Bengals game. GB, SEA, ARI - no one scored more than 20 there. He still managed the game and led them to a win. This isn't going to be a great Football game but McCarron has more staff to win with than Osweiler and the matchup favors the Bengals IMO.
