As I stated in Amds game thread, thank Lombardi for unshackling Stafford and playing to his strengths and along with Caldwell EMPHASIZING smart play and mechanics which stafford used to neglit under Schwartz, under whom which, the inmates clearly ran the assylum. The additions of Tate and Ebron in the draft gives us perhaps the most dangerous three headed monster offense in the league, running game, deep ball receivers, and monster TE's. I usually denigrate my team believe me, but this is the best Lions team I have EVER seen as a complete unit right now. This is NFL so the games have to be played, but as a Lions fan, I've never been this excited, and I've suffered 20 years. And as someone in the NFC north, who tracks closely my division, I agree with AMD that NE will eat up Minny.

I really like the Lions this season, too, LK. But, it's the defense that really has given me a bit of optimism regarding their push for the playoffs. Suh is in the final year of his contract so we will see big things from not only him but Fairley as well. I like Detroit's front 7 and their strength should help contain the weakness in their secondary. As talented as the offense is, it will be a big test for them to be successful against a great Panthers defensive front. Detroits pffensive line concerns me and I think Carolina can/will get to Stafford. I'm close to playing an under in this game which bodes well since Detroit is such a public "over" team. Bol

How does that even happen? Kaepernick is not that good at all, people don't realize that either. If Cutler can find a way to not turn the ball over, Bears should handle their business. But for fukks sake run the football to set up the deep play action pass. Passing the ball 51 times & running 18 is not it. Just ask the Ravens who threw Flacco 61 times last week.

Come on, boys. This is an example of an overreaction on the Lions. The Lions are still the Lions and do stupid things like committing dumb penalties, which lead to the Giants first TD. They are top 5 in penalties every year. Their running game was basically non-existent vs the Giants. They were stuffed in the back field plenty of times. Bell is not a good RB. Golden Tate, however, is a helluva pick up & is one of the most reliable receivers in the NFL. It's huge having him to help out Calvin Johnson. Ebron will be an animal if they use him right. Also that 6'7" white guy at TE looks dangerous too. But lets be honest the Giants are mud and Eli Manning just gives teams points. He's absolutely awful at QB. Receivers aren't even looking when he throws the ball most of the time. Have you ever seen a QB with less "swagger" than Eli Manning? Me either. He looks like a robot out there. Worst QB to ever win 2 Super Bowls. INT machine. The Giants O-line is awful. The Lions need to develop a running game or they'll be one dimensional all year. Jim Caldwell however is definitely an upgrade over Jim Schwartz. His a$$ should've been canned two years ago...

Lol..Joseph Fauria, and hes a redzone machine...points taken its hard to change old bad habits hence the early stupid penalties, but I assure you that should improve as season progresses as it is a major EMPHASIS of the new regime. Now the run game, and here is where I fully agree with AMD, our achilles heal is our O line and our run blocking is atrocious. Bell/Bush can be good 3rd down backs/big play abilities as both have the speed and tackle blocking sense to hit holes quick, they just need those holes. Anyways enough about my Lions, I'm by no mean proclaiming them NFC champs, just excited and feel we are a threat. 10/11 wins, punchers chance at 12. Also, the pub is cool to the lions for the infamy you have described, which will give Lions betting backers an edge IMO, as lines makers will be shelling out soft lines for the near future.

I don't think anyone in the thread or forum is overreacting to one Lions win. It was a nice win but I was actually thinking of taking Carolina or the under this week. Most of us still realize the Lions deficiencies which are their secondary and the left side of their offensive line. But, in a flag football league, the same can be said for 80% of the teams. Other than the Seahawks, what other teams have a shutdown capability in their secondary? As for the Lions rushing attack, it's there. Bush and Bell have all the tools, it will just depend on whether the O line comes together.

If you watched the game you'd realize that the giants were selling out with 7-8 in the box to stop the run and force the lions to throw and be one dimensional. It obviously failed hard, no other team is going to try to single cover megatron this year , the rushing yards will come much easier especially in a division with 3 horrible run defending teams in the vikings, bears and packers....No one here is telling you the lions are the front runners for the superbowl, but there certainly a playoff contender.

Agree with your under lean on carolina by the way amd, carolina has no downfield threat at all but i believe their defense will also hold the lions down especially on grass. No side pick in that one for me as i believe its a toss up, but the under looks nice.

I still can't believe the Giants had the balls to play Tampa 2 against the lions offense. Coughlin is either very arrogant or very ignorant....or both.

Looking at what Philly and Indy did in the second 1/2 of their first games - over is the play - they easily may reach the mid 40's by halftime.  Like your other plays as well.  GL.

I'm really liking the Dallas/Tenn under. Big D should run Murray and get a little of the heat off Romo after his terrible performance. The Titans defense should be up for the challenge at home, but their offense isnt near as good as SF's, who didnt actually do a whole lot vs the Boys. Any thoughts?
