The reason is ended at the same 20-17 score, as you said, is because McCarron proceeded to turn over the ball twice to end the game. BUT, they created more excitement. Why is that concept so hard for you guys to grasp? You know it's true. It baffles me quite a lot that you even have to ask this question.
But I bet you still disagree. OK, let's try this.........some juiicy examples:
1) Stricter rules against hitting the QB, and checking receivers, in order to boost scoring...as per fan and advertiser request.
2) Stricter hand-checking rules in NBA, in order to boost scoring and create video game numbers and prop up their stars even more..........as per fan and advertiser request.
3) Jordan, LBJ, Kobe, etc. get rules shifted in their favor and get all the calls, so that NBA starsdo not lose their luster.
4) NFL makes extra point longer, which reduces scoring a tiny bit...........BUT...............creates more drama, which is the ultimate goal.
MANY, MANY other examples, but I hope I made my point.
Do you have an accurate number for the average scoring in NBA games since the rule changes?
Do you have an accurate number for the average scoring in NFL games since the rule changes?
Why not proving your assumptions with facts like true numbers everyone can reproduce?
I get your point that the NFL wants to have more excitement because they make like $6bn in revenue from TV. But fixing games? To risk the integrity of the biggest sports in the world?
If they would fix games to make things more excited they wouldn't let all NFC playoff teams clinch their spots in week 16. They wouldn't have let the Steelers lose to Baltimore on Sunday. Wouldn't be a three-team fight between Jets, Steelers AND Chiefs be more exciting this week? Wouldn't it have been MUCH MORE exciting if the Broncos had lost on MNF to make their game vs. SD more interesting? Wouldnt be a Giants/Eagles clash be much more exciting if the Eagles had won last week?
You make a case for a fix in the Broncos game to push this game to overtime but a Bengals & Ravens win would have set up a MUCH better TV scenario this week.
You only see what you want to see.
