I don't get it. Why did he not use his last time out at the end of the game. He would have had 14 seconds to possibly block a kick, return it, who knows. Why not at least give your team a chance to pull something off?
I'm a Vikings fan, so of coarse I'm ecstatic about it, but I just don't get it.

If they take the timeout after the third down play the Vikings have to either punt the ball or take their chances and try to kill 14 seconds on a pass play. Especially with Hester, why not take your chances.

Totally agree - I wasnt really paying attention at the end, are you sure the bears didnt take the last timeout already?

REDLINE- You could always hope for a blocked punt, or that they kick to Hester and hope for a return. Ya never know.
I think he just got so bored during the game, watching his offense that he stopped paying attention. You could tell he's not into this season as much as last year. Once you've become accustomed to winning it's hard to stay excited during losing seasons.

Let's say the Bears call a T/O at 1:35 after the QB kneels down. Then the Vikes run a play into the middle and burn off 5 more seconds, and they can snap 3rd down at :50 seconds left. The QB can burn off another few seconds on the 3rd down kneel down, and the Vikes can burn off all seconds on the play clock and then call T/O. So at best you are looking at 5 seconds left in the game, so the QB can throw a long pass out of bounds to end the game. If there was more time left then maybe they use the T/O but at 1:38 it was hopeless.

It's okay for us to say that the Bears had no chance to do anything spectacular at that point, but it's Lovie's job to coach the game out in a one-score game. Sheesh, you'd think these guys would coach for 60 minutes like the players play for 60 minutes.
