I think people have an intrinsic feeling that Joe Buck is not very talented at broad casting. He doesn't offer any real substance to the games. Probably would have never risen through the ranks if his dad wasn't a well known broadcaster. I get the feeling he is not really interested in sports.
I was gonna say the same thing about him seeming disintetested in sports. I think he'd be happier hosting Dancing with the Stars or that Bravo show. And yes, the Artie Lange thing is hilarious.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

As a Cowboy fan, I feel like Troy Aikman hates the Cowboys. He was praising the Packers and especially A. Rodgers all game long when they played in week 6. I called into my local radio station 105.3 The Fan because I couldn't understand why Aikman hated the Cowboys. They said they get that question all the time. My thought is that it is a Jerry Jones thing. I have no idea why the Packer fans would be complaining.
His job is to cover both teams. You are just a homer.
Listen to the most recent Bill Simmons podcast. He interviews Buck in the 2nd half of the pod and it's really good. Buck talks about how when he first got into the league he tried to copy Pat Summerall's style of being really calm and not injecting his emotion into the game. Summerall was able to do that because (a) it was his natural style and (b) he had John Madden going absolutely crazy the entire game next to him.
Buck has definitely gotten better with age. Remember he was a guy in his 20s calling World Series and major NFL playoff games. Buck isn't my favorite announcer and I used to hate him back in the day, but he really is a big sports fan and I don't definitely don't mind listening to him now.

Phil Simms certainly know his stuff... you can't deny that... but I just can't stand his delivery. It always seems as if he is shouting, to me, for lack of a better description.

Simms is one of the LEAST-informed announcers. He is mistake-laden and continues to dig himself into even bigger holes when he realizes he has been wrong all along. How Jim Nantz puts up with him, I have no idea.
Re-watch Super Bowl 44 between the Saints and the Colts. Simms was wrong on every penalty call, every prediction, was literally out of his mind on the Lance Moore 2-pt. conversion replay, staked his entire house on why it would not stand, stone-walled Nance when Nance said it was good, and then bragged that he played the game and he knows what he's talking about (hinting that wtf does Nance know, since he never played), and then when Moore's conversion counted, he railed on for another 5 minutes on what bullshit that call was as the game was going on. Nance was trying to get him to STFU but couldn't.
He has continued doing that for the past seven years and I guarantee that for tonight's game, you will hear his arrogance and stupidity arise once more. He's not only a terrible announcer, but an fool as well.

Watching Joe Buck do MLB games is as close to trying out suicide on for size without actually doing it. Uninterested, disconnected, droll, and tedious.....Joe Buck doing baseball.
He admitted in an interview a few years ago that he DISLIKES the sport of baseball and only announces it for the money. He loves football, however.
Explains everything.
