That's just not true. There are plenty of people who like the Redskins plus the points. I don't really understand why they feel that way, but they do exist. Plenty of them. This is not a heavily one-sided public game, but some Skins backers want to make themselves believe that it is.

That trend was in the news last year when the Colts opened at home on Thursday night against the Saints. The thing was, though, that most people disregarded the trend because they were in such a hurry to grab the Saints and all those "generous" points. The Colts won the game, 41-10.

That is a GREAT point, texancapper, and you might just have put me firmly on the home team tonight. Maybe the Giants feel that for all their success last year (particularly in the postseason, obviously), the memory that still stings is that of frequently getting booed at home, and in no game were they booed more ferociously than in the Sunday night debacle against.......these Redskins! That game dropped them to 9-5 on the season, but it dropped their home record under .500, and was also their 3rd straight loss at Giants Stadium, with all three losses coming by double digits.
Any Super Bowl champion soaks in tons and tons of fan adulation, but here's an unusual situation in which a defending champ, rather than resting on its laurels and perhaps becoming complacent, probably feels like they owe their fans a great performance on their home field. This could be an incredible intangible that makes all the difference in tonight's home opener.
I LOVE IT!!!

Bator....
I love your insight into most things......But i must say....dont you ever just sit back and think that maybe you read into things just a tad bit??
I mean.......It all sounds like what you are saying is how YOU personally would feel if you were a Giants Player....and how YOU would feel towards your own fans.....I too if i was an NFL player would want to give it all for my fans......But I just dont see how you can base your wager on this assumptive BS.......we dont know what these fuckers are feeling......I want cold hard facts.....nut assumptions.........Assumptions make an ASS-of-U-ME.....get the sarcasm???
Look....I know you are a great capper.....as am I.....But i wanna know about the QB that got juiced the night before the game.....or the player who is addicted to coke.....or a guy who just beat the shit out of his woman......a guy in trouble with the law....etc....Especially if that player is pivotal to the teams success....getting the edge on the psyche of a player is a good angle to take......I think them wanting to win at home is always on their mind.....as is the rest of the NFL.........They all want to win for their fans....but when you got someone with some personal issues....or partying it up when they shouldn't be.....that is an angle......because their performance will suffer from it.....cuz at that point if shit is hitting the fan in these players lives....they could give a flying fuck about the fans...........sooooo
with that said.........I dont see anything of that nature going on with the G-men as of yet.....and they are keeping their noses clean as of now......With that said.....I think the Giants ML is the safest bet here tonight.......GL Bator.....I will be following your research with my own this year.......this is why I joined covers....someone always knows more then you do......as long as that KNOW is fact not fiction.......Good luck

Winning at home has been one of the points coach Tom Coughlin has discussed with his team.
“Quite frankly, our fans deserve us to play better at home,” he said.
Also said on tonight's game...
“No one is giving us respect, and we like that,” said defensive end Justin Tuck, who will replace the retired Michael Strahan at defensive end. “We’re still the quiet team lurking. That’s a perfect sign for me.”
