With a injury cloud steadily hovering over Andrew Luck I have to wonder if he'll even be 100% by opening kickoff. With those doubts in mind I'm going with Big Ben to have a BIG season and win the MVP at +3000. The more I watch Hard Knocks the more I realize how much of an distraction Antonio Brown was. With Big Ben and Tomlin taking back the locker room, I see great things coming out of Pittsburgh this year.
If I'm putting money on Big Ben to win the MVP that means Pittsburgh needs to have a great year to make it happen. I see a Super Bowl rematch this year with the Steelers vs. L.A. Rams going at it in Miami on Feb 2. The Rams sit atop the NFC as favorites alongside the Saints and Eagles as the oddsmakers favorites to lift the George Halas trophy. I don't think Wentz can stay healthy and Foles isn't there to answer the call. I think the Rams have the better defense and should be able to edge the Saints again and make it back to the big game. Pittsburgh has a bigger hill to climb but the oddsmakers have only three teams better than them in the AFC. The Browns have to prove it, Brady can't win them all, and I'm no different than most when I say I have my superstitions. The Madden Curse is real and Mahomes is going to figure it out this season. I have the Steelers winning their 7th Lombardi and Big Ben retiring and riding off in the sunset as MVP.
The Baltimore Ravens open the season in Miami and own the series with a 9-6 record. But the number I'm looking at is 37. In their previous match ups the two teams have combined for 37 or more points 53.33% of the time. I'm taking the OVER total 37 points in week 1.

49ers pick'em vs the Bucs. The 49ers are a hidden goldmine (pun intended) that will not be valued correctly until about week 6 or so. They have been cultivating talent at all positions and their coaching staff has had 3 years now to build the team in their image in terms of personnel and culture/fit. On top of that, the expectations now for the coaching staff are enormous as this is year 3 of their rebuild. Jimmy G is in year 2.5 of Shanahan's complicated system. During Matt Ryan's second year of Shanahan's system, he won the MVP and the Falcons made it to the Superbowl. On top of that, the 49ers defense will stun people this season, book it! Nick Bosa may or may not play week 1 but it's not relevant. The 49ers will have one of the best pass rushes in the NFL regardless and their secondary is taking shape. This team will be one of the most balanced teams in the league. And unlike the Chief's Shanahan's offensive west coast system takes advantage of the time of possession which will aid an already impressive defense on paper even more so.
On the other end, the Bucs have an entirely new coaching staff and there is massive pressure on Winston to win or else he could easily be done as an NFL starter. They are playing in Tampa Bay but when has Tampa Bay ever had a compelling home-field advantage? The team has not changed much as far as personnel either which doesn't bode well for expected performance this season unless Bruce Arian's system catches on quickly and Winston makes massive leaps in development.
For this reason, I really love the 49ers at a pickem. This one won't be close. Just like the Chief's first 6 games of last season Vegas will have the 49ers as a discount for the first few weeks until they prove themselves to the league, it's during this timeframe that we can capitalize on these advantageous lines for the 49ers.
