Soccer is a good show to watch if you pick right games (and these are rare). Like let's say Chelsea - Liverpool yesterday, it was a good one. If in the mix for game you have rivalry, you have history, you have skill and you have something to compete for - you get great game (and there are different leagues in Europe with different playstyles to suit and there are different teams style-wise in any league obviously). Same goes for any other sport. I had money on three 13:00 games yesterday yet was watching Atlanta against New Orleans as this game was about what I love.
And yes 0:0 may still be a highly spectacular game in soccer, maybe both goalkeepers are godlike this day and the game itself is very fast with many opportunities for goal, you never know by scorebox. Easy example is https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/season=2000/matches/round=1460/match=65184/postmatch/report/index.html

If you had no money on the game, would you rather watch soccer or American football?
Let me rephrase that. Would you rather watch players pass the ball around for 90 minutes or would you rather watch 180 minutes of advertisements with in-between interruptions of men in tights standing around, huddling with the clock ticking down and a grand total of 6.4% of passing, stumbling and piling up?
It's close. I think the only remaining exciting sport that's watchable is hockey.
And basketball? I rather watch ping-pong.

Bud, you must be getting your "nuts" handed to you via booking....I got out of it....Guys hitting 4 team parlays, too much info. on the internet with spreads moving and picks by sharp gurus, one guy who bet simply by watching the lines all week and ate my guts out every week, chasing the money at times, busting my tv's, kicking the wife out of the house, the high anxiety level(YOU show this!!), and that's just for starters.....A book friend of mine had to go to his credit union to bail himself out last week..62k....Years ago, it was like taking "candy" from a baby!....90 % of my bettors lost....No more!....If you get a few "sharps," they'll carve your heart out!!!!....Settle down and good luck!...

I would rather watching people push stones around on frozen water while brooming a path for said stones rather than watching soccer - (bowling on steroids-lol)

You talk about getting all irritated about people standing around between plays, and not much action with alot of running and guys jumping on each other but you say basketball is like ping pong. Yea a game that is constant motion for 48 minutes. If you stand around you get exposed, and the scores will reach close to a 100 each game. Basketball ihas more action in one game than 99 percent of sports

lol wow not sure if taunting my bad beat or serious. But yeah at least numbers were being put up. Certainly more exciting than tonight's Bears/Astros game.
Actually, watching the Bears play the Astros would be kind of fun.

Eddo brings up a very good point. If it wasn't for gambling and fantasy leagues, no one would watch this shit. The quality of play in college and pro football is awful. The players can't tackle. Coaching is horrible and there's a flag every other play. There's instant replay and they still fuck the call up.
It's easy. Don't watch .

Unless you have money on the game, how the fuck can anyone bare to watch this shit?
Players standing around, clock running. Run one play, stumble for a yard or two. More of the players standing around, repeat. And then there are the commercial bombardments.
I can't stand to watch NFL football even when I have action on the game.
Same thing for baseball. Wait around 30 seconds - 1 minute between every fucking pitch.
You can't say the same about international sports like hockey or soccer.
your problems & solutions are so obvious. you cry & whine when you lose your own money, you cry & whine when your clients win money off of you, & you can't stand watching some of the sports.
STOP BETTING & STOP TAKING BETS. THIS WILL RESULT IN NO WHINING AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WATCH THE SPORTS YOU FIND BORING.
until you do the above, do us all a favor & stop posting.

Okay okay maybe not soccer. But it's still more fast paced than American football. College isn't so bad. But NFL is horrendous. Out of the 3-3.5 hours, 1 hour is dedicated to commercials. About 2 hours of time we see players standing around, huddling, lining up at the line of scrimmage, etc. 11 minutes of action is correct. The rest is dedicated to replays.
Football is the only sport in the world where NOT scoring (and burning clock) is considered a prime skill.
Give two teams 8 regulation possessions each with no clock and see what final score would we have. Probably something like 45-41.
Sometimes you wonder. They huddle for 30 seconds. Hand the ball off the and the guy just falls down. Even I could do that. That's not sport!
FYI, I am not from Europe, I live in Canada.
Explains why all the bitching. Canadians bitch about all the stupid shit. Shut the hell up and turn it off. Simple as that.

Yes basketball is 100% action. The only difference is basketball is all last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. A 15-point lead at any other time will mean nothing. Whether your team is up 10 or down 10 will make very little difference on the outcome of the game.

Yes I am. Last month I was up big time as a bettor and then 2 of my players hit 2 monster parlays on the 28th of October to put me that much in the losses.
November was going to be promising after I won an online Poker tourney. But a losing month as a bettor as well as my bettors slowly eating away at my profits made it less profitable. Cap it off with another monster parlay hit this Sunday and I now don't even have the cash to pay him.
If I don't take his action for tonight he will cash out everything, which I cannot pay. So I have to take his action hoping that he will lose. That's how badly he destroyed me. 13 consistently winning month should be enough for me to cut him off. But right now it has come to a point where he'll keep on kicking me in my grave.

Eddo... you forgot to mention the break in action every time somebody makes "illegal" contact to the head/neck/chest area of another player. God forbid someone gets hit too hard then you just have an unnecessary roughness call. Fuckin box sport.

The worst is the Holding call. You can virtually call holding on any given play. You got 11 guys holding each other every damn play, that's essentially the game. But that's not the point of the thread. Calls can go either way. The theme of this thread is how painful and unbearable football is to watch.
If you understand the game well enough, you can add to the torture when a team punts for a Touchback when facing a "4th and 1" from the other team's 37 yard line. Or when the quarterback runs with the ball on 3rd down and slides 2 yards back of the 1st down yardage with a wide open field. God forbid if he gets touched.
