yes, but my point was that the scrum should never have occurred... before all of the other players jumped on the pile, the Colts had recovered it... everyone knows that once the scrum starts it could end up in anyone's hands... it is the JOB of the officials to try to determine possession before the scrum if possible...

yes, the whole point would have been moot if Baskett holds onto the ball... but he didn't... so it goes to the refs to make the right call, and they didn't...

i know... i have this stupid obsession with wanting to open people's eyes... even though i know it is totally futile...

It's funny how when you bet on a team you almost see things that didn't really happen..The colts never gained possession at any time during the onsides kick.  Just because you see a split second slo-mo clip doesn't mean he had control.  The ball was up for grabs, it happens all the time in football..Part of the game.  Saints won the game fair and square, they played aggressive, they played to win...The Colts tried to slow the game down, had it at their pace, but couldn't stop the Saints late in the 4th. 

As far as the officiating, it's funny to hear people bitch when they call penalties, and it's funny to hear people bitch when they don't call penalties...Someone is always unhappy.  With the missed calls being a burden on the NFL refs the past couple years, it was nice to see them take a back seat to the game...The better team won, period...To the winers that lost money and want to make excuses and split hairs, how is this game any different from the 100's of games bet on during the season..If you tripled your bet for one game and are mad because of the amount of cash you lost, the joke is on you..

let me explain something to all of you....the saints won that game before the kick-off. when that line went to 4.5 on sunday, for the second time, at that point the books were taking all the action they could on the colts. the saints WON that game (or should i say were GIVEN that game) when the books failed to get any action on the saints. don't for one second believe there was 30-35% on the saints. it was 5% at most. ask your bookies and see what they say. i asked mine and he said he had every penny on the colts. when i asked him for the line, he joked and said if i wanted the colts it was -9.5. thats where that line should have moved to, not back to 4.5.

and as far as the officiating, you're right there were no blatent bad calls because there didn't need to be. i'm telling you right now fellas, the entire league is in bed with the books and they're all in on it. gone are the days of paying a player or an official $25k to fix a game. they make to much $$$$$. so what happened, did the fix just go away?? no shot, they just got everyone on board. vegas/offshore pump so much money back into the league, they completely control it.

the colts were allowed to play for 1 quarter in that game and they showed what they could do if the outcome hadn't been pre-determined. its unfortunate for the colts and peyton manning, the action was so lopsided, otherwise they would have won easily.

Game was very well officiated, in my opinion, at least based on priors SB's and past season.  Sure, there we a few things I questioned - I thought that late hit out of bounds in first half wasn't really worthy of a call, and yes, there could have been been a couple of holding calls.  I won't even comment about onside kick stuff - Colts didn't argue one bit or challenge.  I wasn't aware of rule on 2 point conversion, but I think they got it right.  Football is tough game to officiate, people yell fix when their side loses.  Baseball is so much easier to officiate and look how bad umps were in postseason.  Personally, I think if Garcon doesn't drop that pass late in first half, he scores TD, Colts go up 17-3, and they win, but that's football.  No sour grapes - Saints were definitely better team and wanted it more.  If you can't fess up to that, don't bet.

1) you don't have to be a MOLE to see who gained possession BEFORE THE SCRUM... that is the point, dipshit!

2) that isn't a horse collar!  what are you fucking talking about!?  a horse collar only happens when the guy is brought down by the shoulder pads... Freeney CLEARLY took him down by the JERSEY... watch football much?  no... then watch it again...

I mean, I feel like I say "horrible call!" 4-5 times a game.... I'm not complaining that there were no calls... infact, I'd rather watch a game where the refs don't decide it....

but this games officiating was not consistant on the season.... hell the Saints got to the superbowl on a Pass Interference call against the Vikings which was bullshit, In OVERTIME, and it decided the game....

I'm not taking anything away from the Saints.... they outplayed the Colts and deserved to win....

but are you trying to tell me that we just watched a football game where not one Colt defender held a saints receiver...

not one Colt defender had "illegal contact" on a saints receiver????

not one Colt defender was called for "pass intereference" on a Saints receiver??????

and vice versa????

with 84 pass attempts???????????

no offensive holding calls on either team????

so what we are looking at is two teams that played flawlessly on offense?

never made a mistake regarding penalties?

all that I want to see is consistancy..... that's all.... if there is a rule that states you cannot touch a receiver within 5 yards.... ok that's fine, but you have to call it during the season, and you have to call it in the superbowl...

you can't call it all year, and then just not call it in the most important game of the year.....

I am not typing this because I am bitter over losing on my Colts bet... hell I hedged the second half OVER anyway so I ended up alright...

I'm just saying, this should be mentioned.... I'm not saying the game was fixed.... But I am saying that this affected the game...

There was NO "FIX" by the refs, look at all the refs tendencies who worked the SB.  They officiated the game exactly like they have done their whole careers.  There should be NO surprises there.  The game was called the same both ways.  If you were surprised how this game was called, then you should stop betting on sports immediately.  Now, having said that, I do feel the NFL put together this crew knowing full well how they would call the game.  I can only speculate on their motives and what they thought the outcome might be.

IF the refs wanted the Saints to win, why didn't they call the 2pt conversion good from the start?  Most of the calls went the Colts way in the first qtr...  And Ice, the scrum is part of football.  No team had clear possession of the ball, the scrum turned out exactly like they ALL do.  The guy who has the ball last, wins.

And sorry, you didn't have the right team.  The right team was the Saints.  They won by 2 TDs and would win again if they played tomorrow.  Manning is great but not the best, and the Saints had the better TEAM and COACH!!! 

If you bet on the right team, you wouldnt be bitter.  Best team won in every phase of the game.  Bottom line.  Never question the heart of a champion.  Carry on.
