Bravo for the Nice Work Bevo ... It was fun... ...
I'm gonna miss those early morning games. It's nice to wake up (or to stay up all night long) and watch some entertaining international hockey games with some really good and great NHL'ers playing for thier own nations teams.
It would be awesome if the NHL could figure out a way to include European Teams in the league. I know it would be hard on the players and logistics such as schedule makers... but the sport has been global long before baseball and basketball were.
How cool would it be to see NHL teams playing vs teams from cities in Russia... Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, etc, etc.
For me... it would be fantastic...
It's one of the things that makes "football" (soccer) so great a game... All the passion of the fans from different countries and the excitement of facing different nations... not just the same ole, same ole all the time.
With a limited talent pool and money being a big determining factor in signing great players... I could accept foreign players in a "city" based international league... just as in American born baseball players in Japan and Japanese players playing in the USA... and foreign born players in basketball and "football" (soccer) in leagues across the globe is accepted these days.
Imagine... 24 / 7 / 365
