If you are believer in your Lippsman split theory for the finals then why not wait for a split in the first two then bet Tampa at what will be a really juicy price as they head to Chicago tied 1-1 and Chicago then having home ice. Unless you feel confident the Lightning and Bishop smack the Hawks around twice in in Tampa.
Personally to me this Hawks team looks like they are on a mission and you can see they fully realize this is the last ride for this group together as due to finances they will be torn apart at the end of this season. Very close knit group that has been through a lot together, playing together for the last time. They have more skill and are fully motivated and galvanized as a unit. Plus Bishop scares the crap out of me playing against a team that can actually score for the first time in these playoffs. This will be the first team that will have the big tender moving from side to side quickly in his crease and the shots will be pinpoint lazers unlike with the other offensively inept teams he has faced thus far. Ofcourse we know where all the experience lies as well. That's a lot to go against. Will be looking at this game by game myself to see how the teams look and to see how the refs will be calling it.

I took a shot on TB to win the Cup at +850 three weeks before the playoffs started. 120 to win 1020. The original plan was to hedge and try to guarantee myself 500ish if TB made the finals.
My books opening line is Chicago -130 to win the series. To lose 120...really isn't a big deal to me. I may just hedge for 156 to win 120 on Chicago to guarantee no losses.
HOPEFULLY Lightning can get a game 1 win and then I'd be about to likely hedge at a great + money price on Chicago.
Long story short....Chicago looks like a team on a mission. Hard to bet against them but I'm planning to ride it out with the Lightning.

The split just works better in the first 2 games. There will be no split plays here. TB is a slight Fave in the first game.
Doesn't that just speak volumes PB. The books have the Hawks at around a -130 fave for the series, but TB is a -115 at home. I don't know about smacking the Hawks at home, but I very well do see TB winning both of them. The regular season matchup at TB they were -155 faves that won 4-0 !!!
Of course all the casual fans are going to pick the Hawks because they are the Hawks and have hit the cup finals 2 of the last 5 years and came close to going again last year . Original 6 team and they are going against some team that plays in a beach town !!!
So that was worth probably .30 right there for the books to move the line.
Game wise I won't wager on game 1, but very well could pick the loser in game 2 depending on how things go.
Here's hoping the refs keep the whistles in their pockets unless there is a mugging. Thinking that will be the case where there should be at least 5 goals scored every game.
BOL to ya.

And if you look at the hawks biggest weakness or liability (I guess some will say its Crawford) but its been having to rely on 4 Dmen and that will be minimized considering how bad the lightning's bottom 6 have been these playoffs.

Lippsman and Polar-bear I could not agree more. This is not the finals most people thought would happen. Your thoughts on the Refs are spot on. I do not know who will win the cup, no one does. One thing I really think is that to create an audience and some excitement the NHL will not let this be a sweep or a bunch of blowout games. Given these 2 markets, no offense to any fans of these teams the matchup is just to strange. Both teams have good storylines as well as some very talented players. All I can say is I live in an area that I have not seen anyone with a hat, jersey etc of either of these teams. Still trying to decide who I feel will win the cup. Where is the value? Is there any value? For now I have no answer. Maybe just a lot of goal scoring as the average fan wants high action and really not 1-0 games. Kind of like Baseball True fans of the game appreciate a 1-0 game but most prefer 7-6 with home runs and a lot of action. Keeping this thought in mind I may just bet every game OVER. Although this may not work. Undecided now. Best of luck to all.

Yes and not to mention the big gaps of days in between games giving those four D-Men sufficient rest time to log lots of minutes in the final.

You can get ov 5 -138. A bit juicy, but I think worth it.

Lightning BEST home record in NHL @ 28-9-4 @ Tampa regular season BUT just 5-5 @ Tampa these playoffs thru the Conference Finals vs 7-3 on the road. are 2-1 in 1st games played @ home their first three playoffs series
Blackhawks24-16-1 road regular season and 5-4 on the road these playoffs. 2-1 in 1st games played on the road their first three playoffs series
in 3 of Ben Bishop's last 4 games @ Tampa he got SCORCHED for at LEAST 5 GA's
he does, however, have 5 shutouts and 4 1 GA wins in his 20 playoff games played
WHICH Ben Bishop (or Corey Crawford for that matter) shows up Wednesday @ Tampa?

something to consider Lightning @ home.

Rink rat - you don't know with the goalies , they shouldn't even factor in . I think the Rangers hung around a lot longer than they should have . Tampa made a lot of mistakes defensively. Blackhawks will burn you for those mistakes more often than not . They match up well with Tampa IMO . If Tampa pushes the pace they better back check on the counter or guys like hossa will make a play . If they sit back bishop better not give up rebounds or guys like shaw will be there to bury it . Like I mentioned before I have futures on Hawks +500 and Tampa +1300 so I'd rather see Tampa win but it will be very hard and I don't see it . Chicago is a dynasty like Detroit in the 90s . If Tampa manages to knock them off it will take 7 . I don't want to bet the series because I already won , but my book has Chicago at -140 and it's hard not to take them for me . Gl with whatever YOU do

Before anyone responds to my "goalies shouldn't even factor in " comment . Answer this , what goalie played well in the playoffs consistently so far ? Carey price ??? No ! Hanky Lundy??? Nope !

Ducks could have advanced to the Finals with Bishop instead of Andersen.
That remains to be seen. Can't compare at this point. Bishop has been playing against teams that can't score while Andersen just lost a 7 game series to the most offensively gifted team in the NHL. We'll see how Bishop makes out these next couple of weeks. I also think Tampa is better defensively than Anaheim which gives Bishop more help than Andersen got. A prime of example of that was the Ducks leaving the best player in the world all alone in front of their net, completely untouched and unbothered so that he could easily rebound in the first goal of the game against a helpless Andersen last night. He was left out to dry many times in that series while Bishop very rarely had second and third chances to deal with.

Not knocking Tampa, I think they are a very sound team, I just know what I am getting/expecting in Chicago and I have watched them excel against stronger opposition than Tampa has yet to face these playoffs. If Tampa wins I am not shocked at all but I think they will have to find a way to beat a better hockey team to do it. As for the line, there are different ways to view it, I get what you are saying but the line in game one is also 20 to 25 cents lower for Tampa than it was for the Ducks in game one who were a whopping -140 and then -135 in their two opening games against the Hawks so the oddsmakers are reflecting a large difference. As for who will wager on whom, the real money from pro gamblers will be bet on who they think will win not the "popular team" so I don't see that angle personally but maybe you're onto something. I just hope it's a good series and as fast skating as I think it will be, that's all I am looking for. Like I said game by game for me if I even touch it, I will see how it looks. My trust in NHL refs is little to none. As we both know the regular season means nothing now. I put no stock at all in that 4-0 game. That Hawks will be a completely different team than what the Lightning saw back then. Tampa gets home ice, that should help them despite the results of their last series, I expect it to help them more here.

Ya well HERE is a response for you. actually Lundqvist played well in the playoffs. he had two "blow up" games 2 & 3 vs the Lightning BUT every other loss was from NO "goal support" from his team. in 12 of the 19 Rangers games these playoff the Rangers only scored more than 2 GF's 5 times AND got shut out games 5 & 7 @ MSG in the Conference Finals. Lundqvist WON 9 one goal games with 7 of those by 2-1 scores.
as I said before the Lightning series "HOW many one goal games can "Konig Heinrich" WIN with NO "goal support"? THAT is what finally caught up with the Rangers
